Did y'all read the article under the firearms news box on the home page about the Second Ammendment and the Preamble to the Constitution? It's a good one. We're lucky we have people like this writer on our side.

His interpretation of the 2nd is exactly as I have always thought. The right to keep and bear arms isn't a right BECAUSE the founding fathers put it in the 2nd ammendment. They put it in because it IS a right.

More importantly, people need to realize that the Constitution does not grant limited rights to the people. The rights are inherently ours, and the Constitution restricts the government. It is easy to find lefties looking at it the other way.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Carrying it a step further, look at the parts individually. A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State. This portion does not and can not stand alone. It is incomplete and requires something else to make sense and be usable. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. This portion stands alone. It is clear and concise and needs nothing further to say exactly what it was meant to say. Everyone knows this of course, the bad Americans just don't want to acknowledge it.

In modern English, the 2A would be phrased "Since a well-regulated militia is necessary for the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".
