I tried the 7/64 allen wrench along with others but they didn't seem to work.....here is a pic.

Torx?? or other similar design or stripped out hex screw. Can you get in there with needle nose vice grips maybe?

Thats a allen head screw for sure . I have the same weapon . Mine took a 7/32 allen wrench. It's on there pretty tight .

Use 3/16" hex wrench. Eklind, with a t-handle, sold at ACE is great for this.

It's just an A2 grip, about $4, cut it down to where you can get better access to the screw.

You could try a metric wrench in a similar size. Not sure what the size would be. I've also seen guys use a screw driver.

Thank you notack for the idea to cut off the A2 grip it worked great. :) It ended up taking a 3/16" hex wrench, thanks Lazyshooter. Thank you everyone for your help, this Hogue grip is GREAT!
I didn't really think a new grip would make such a difference, but damn what a great improvement. It feels awesome! |

Lazyshooter has it right.
It's a 1/4-28 X 1" long socket head cap screw. Use a 3/16" hex key (aka Allen wrench) to remove it. NOT 7/64", NOT 7/32". Not a Torx, Not a flat-bladed screwdriver. No big whoop, pretty simple stuff... |

After you remove the grip, make sure you don't lose the detent and detent spring. They fit in the small hole on the grip and fit into the receiver to secure the safety switch. Not that I have ever lost one of these. [banghead]

Careful not to lose the small spring that fits down in the body of the grip.
