Ok, so I don't have an AR yet but here's the situation. I'd like to know from you guys that have both a 16 inch HBAR and a lightweight (M4 profile) barrel if there are any accuracy differences? A simple yes/no answer will suffice :)

Another thing: What are the sound/recoil/dust kickup differences between a barrel that has a Mini Y Comp muzzle brake vs. one without?

I thought I was ready to go buy one tomorrow but I'm having last minute misgivings about my choice, lol =P any help would be great!

Unless you are a match shooter you wont notice the difference between M4 and HBAR in accuracy. Where it becomes important is in holding th rifle still. The heavier gun is a little easier to shoot.

I havent used the Mini Y. I did use an Armalite brake equipped rifle. Dont know if a muzzle brake kicks up more dust, but they ar friggin loud. Dont buy one, you dont need a brake on an AR, most of the recoil is the bolt and carrier moving back and forth anyway.

I agree with C_JACK regarding accuracy, and particularly about the mini-y comp.  I am going to get mine removed.

Thanks for the reply. Wouldn't the M4 profile barrel be more prone to POI change as it heats up as it has so many different thicknesses and edges in it? justa thought...

I don't really want the brake either but it's hard to find a M4 profile barrel without one. I'm thinking I'd like the one pictured below but don't wanna hassle with a special order. I'm looking at a brand new post-ban Bushmaster 16 inch HBAR A3 for $799 (decent price?). I'll have to call up the shop and see if they can give me quote on the M4 profile upper...

On top of the practical reason for the lighter barrel (what were they again? lol) it just looks cooler [8D]
