I know there are some outfits that sell AR-15 barrels in .222 I can't really see why anybody would want one. Even though i've killed several deer with the .222, the .223 is just better.

IIRC, some export versions to civilians were in .222 because in several european countries it is not legal for a civilian to own a weapon in a "military" caliber. I think there is a reference to this on the magazine FAQ.

In some european countrys it is illeagle to own weapons chambered for a military caliber. So you have ARs in .222. I've seen some in other strange calibers but I cant seem to find the site in my favorites.

Colt made a small lot of them in the early to mid 80's.I remember handling one in a gun store back then.I also saw in the same time frame the Colt AR's in Electroless nickle. Nick
