I'm certain that I would buy an m4-gery to companion my preban 20" A2, and it would be a colt or a bushie. Probably an A2. There is nothing wrong with flattops, but I'm an iron sights kind of guy.

I'd buy an M4-gery and high cap mags for everything I own, especially my Glocks

1.  Collapsible stock for my post ban M4.
2.  More magazines
3.  Have Kurt install A2 birdcage FS on my post ban M4

1. No longer "Preban" 20" barrel to update my no longer "post ban"

2. Bushmaster superlight carbine with collapsable stock

3. Armalite AR 10 A4 Carbine

4. A whole bunch of magazines.

5. An armload of LEO lowers, for nostalgia's sake

An AR pistol with a 30 round mag that weighs WAY over 50 ounces.  And a Siaga 12 guge w/ pistol grip and folding stock.

A dozen or two of those sweet, sexy HK 30rd mags. And ditto the LEO lowers, wouldn't mind getting ahold of a few of those. Sort of a "lest we forget" for those that follow me.

I was wondering...

I assume if this rotten POS dies in '04' that importation is a go again, right? Granted they could stipulate a ban on imports or any number of a thousand things, but assuming it dies without additional legislation will we get to see new HKs again?

Folding stocks for My ROMAK and SAR-3 AKs.

An AR-15 with a bayonet lug and the A2 suppressor, std. sized lock pins, etc.

Add to that some of those new teflon coated 30 rounder USGI magazines, and I'm set.

How about you? Do you work for us or against us? I can understand your feelings given the over-emotional, the apathetic, and the stupid who have made this all possible, but what have YOU done? Did you call/write your reps & senators? I don't have a problem with someone sharing their views/predictions, but I do have a problem with someone that bitches about it, yet does nothing to change the situation. Bear in mind, I am not accusing you of this; I'm just curious if I should be.

- three 17rnd mags for my Glock 34

As for an AR15, it would have to be Kalifornia approved with a non-detachable 10rnd magazine. I`ll just have to wait until I can work my way around this.

Nope, even if the AWB is allowed to expire without renewal, you will still not be able to get imported "assault rifle" style guns into the country.  Despite the fact there would be no more AWB, BATF's "sporting purpose" test would still apply to imorted weapons to preclude them from getting in.  Also note, you still wouldn't be able to assemble foreign made guns from all imported parts - you'd still have to comply with the "10-part" rule.  Unfortunately you still won't see imported HK's, FNC's, Galils, Uzi's, AUG's, etc.

But would it be legal to build one with the required number of US components, and have "evil features"? For example, I've had a hankering for a Para-FAL, folding stock type, with a bayonet lug in case I want to poke holes in paper with that instead of bullets.

That would be perfectly legal...assuming there isn't a renewal or some other dimwitted law passed by Congress or rule promulgated by BATF in the meantime.

just wondering, since this is about the AWB; is it legal to have thoes 37mm(or whatever) flare launchers on a post-ban AR?  or is that still a grenade launcher?   if it's pre-ban only, then I'd go get one of thoes!! otherwise i'm going to get one next weekend, just for the hell of it!!!  [rocket]

You CAN get factory 15 rounders already.  Just buy some .40 cal mags, they fit 15 rounds of 9mm and function fine!  Go to www.hs2000talk.com to learn more.  I've done this with my two hs2000s and my SA XD.

the G36 would probably be my second choice after the aforementioned M4. Have you ever handled one? that "tupperware" feel takes some getting used to, at least it did for me.

Unfortunately, I believe that would be illegal in the US, unless the mags were made before 9/94.  I don't agree with the laws, but I still try to follow them.  But if it works for you, that's cool.

As long as the magazines still function and hold 10rds in the weapon they are designed for, it's perfectly legal in the US.

Wes15a2,
I've handled the G36 quite a bit in all its derivations (K model, C model, etc..), The newest generation is a much better. The first generation ones I fired (full auto) heated up so bad after two mags, you couldn't hold onto the gun. There was no heat shield. The newest models have shields and a much better fixed sight rail system. If you go to HKpro.com and look up the G36C, you'll see the new upgrades. Its got all the modularity of the AR with a cleaner, more reliable gas system. A better folding stock with integral sling attachments. The barrel is already free floated. It's fully ambidextrious. It breaks down easier for cleaning(however seldom that is) and the magazines have integral mag clamps for making dual mags. Take just about any upgrade or accessory for the AR and it comes standard on the G36. Its a pretty tough system to beat.

from what I've heard, the heatshield issue was the only problem that was raised. which configuration/ sighting system is your favorite? I think that I would go with the 36K with a shortrail/ aimpoint combo. Too bad the weapon wasn't around pre - 86.

Wes15a2,
The other major complaints were the sights. The dual sight system that the Germans adopted is a complete POS. The dot isn't bright enough, and both have very small scope diameters. I think the magnifed reticle is about the size of a nickel. Both are way too small for any speed work. The BUIS' were the worst I've ever seen. They were non-adjustable and molded into the handguard, whick is polymer. Almost identical to the sights on a snub-nose 38, but on a battle rifle. What a concept. HK engineers really dropped the ball on that one. The new rails have fully adjustable sights and are more in line with current rifle sight design.
The aimpoint/rail combo is a good combination, but I think it depends on what your doing. If your in Afghanistan or the deserts of Iraq, I think an ACOG would be better. Ideally, have both and switch them as you need too.
