what I know is, this "terrible" development from Norinco is based on "captured M16's" from US Soldiers in Vietnam.Hard to find information about these uggly rifles. Some guys said, that the Parts from Norinco are "interchangeable" with original M16 parts.
best regards from Munich / Germany

How much?  Don't knock Norinco... their SKSs, AKs, 1911 and M1A copies are all top notch and a value.

We buy them up here for $770 Canadian! ( thats about $500 US)

They used to go for $500 last year.

I know quite a few people that have them..

The furniture sucks big time but they do take regular handguards etc.....

The external finish is about the worst I have seen....and then some.  However the internals seem to fit ok.

They will take regular AR uppers however their upper would not fit on my Oly or Eagle lower...without some metal work...

That gun is hideous...Eek!
The handguards looks like an emaciated sweat shop worker's ribs (probably who built it).
The handle is reminiscient of my girlfriend's "Lady Smith" revolver.
The sights seem to be A1 or atleast similar to them. (typical Chinese, always one step behind us.)

I'm gonna get back to cleaning my AMERICAN-MADE and capitalist produced Bushmaster. [BD]

I don't know, I wish the government would allow China to flood the market with these... appropriate number of US parts of course.  Could you imagine what would happen to the price of domestic rifles if an inexpensive, say $499.95 list, AR were to hit the market.  Not $499.95 wholesale... retail.  Imagine if you could buy an AR for like $399 wholesale through SGN and pay a $20 transfer.  I have a sneaking suspicion that domestic prices would fall to be more competitive, everyone would be a winner.

Hmmm.. I actually trust communist gear designed and manufactured for domestic use more than American made.. they have no incentive to sell parts to themselves. I would wager that this functions perfectly, but damn does it look fugly.. that furniture is atrocious, if functional (I presume).

Edit: I like the buttstock, though

I have to say, this is one of the most terrible things I have ever seen. Almost as bad as all the plastic, chinese manufactured US and Canadian flags I am seeing everywhere.

ACK!

I had the chance to fire and took a quick look of this Norinco.  It functions fine and the internal parts appear to be machined to a pretty good standard.  After saying that, I still resent the commies stealing our R&D to make profit off us.

Well, if it is better made and comparable in cost to the cast Olyarms receivers which fall apart or plastic Hesse junk we have read about, are we not going up in the world, regardless of the politics? I have no Chicom guns, probably won't buy any, but it would force the makers of substandard guns here to pay more attention to quality.  Back during the cold war, how many of you would have jumped to buy a Saiga AK or a Russian SKS which were unavailable back then?  I do have some cheap Chinese scopes from Tasco, lets me have a better scope for less. How many here have bought Norinco ammo for AKs in the past? When it was banned, the price for AK ammo jumped.  Bottom line is a quality player should improve quality and service here.

$797.00 isn't that great of a bargain - I bought my BUSHMASTER 20" A3 for $809.00. If the AR clones from NORINCO are the same quality as the M14 copies they've made, they'd have to be damn cheap!

But yet the AR15.com buy is going to be a AK and it might be called a Black Rifle...Thats why I say you can't call a Chinese Weapon a Black Rifle.

Norinco does make some good things like HiRam said. My feeling is you are buying a rifle made with parts from dead Americans from Nam. I hear some of these are captured rifles like Sniper34 says.

If it's pre-ban $797 is a very good price, provided it will take other parts.

Hi,

Those norinco ar15 copies have been on our domestic market for about 15 years now. They sold cheap (500 euro) but I've seen A LOT of problems with them. These days I don't encounter them very often at gunranges, thank God.

The chinese do not really grasp the idea of quality control or the hardening of certain parts (which now break easily). Also, just for fun...Drop a go/no go guage in one and then the next. You will probably see large differences in headspace per rifle, at least I did about a decade ago when I checked a dozen or so...

Stay away from them!!!! You will be sorry!

Chrs,
Bollocks
