I just bought this AR15 (my first) from a guy and please let me know what it would be worth then I'll let you all know what I paid him for it.  It's a Colt Preban, Blue label, Sporter Target model R6551.  Serial number ST 027XXX.  Collaspable stock, 16in barrel with bayo lug.  I got five 30 round mag, one 20 round mag, a bayonet, about 40 stripper clips and about 1000 rounds of ammo.  First of all tell me what the rifle would be alone, then what you would think would be a fair price on all of that.  Thanks in advance.

It's not a pre-ban and it's worth less than $275.

Depends.
Does it have the sear block?
Large pin / large trigger groups size?
What kind of mags and what kind of ammo.

Is this the way the gun came from Colt?

I would expect to pay no more than $1,000 (sear block is a minus) for the gun if it is in really good shape.

If all the mags are USGI and the ammo is anything other than Wolf then about $1300.

I have no idea so I'll take a wild guess $1850.00
If I was you I would just be happy to have an AR. And a preban to boot. I'm still saving for mine. I am contemplating on selling my 65inch wide screen HDTV, just so I can get an AR15 in M4 style and a Springfield armory .45 some mags for both and lots of ammo!

How do you figure?

>Serial number ST 027XXX
Biggerhammer.net: "ST038100 and Below: preban"

Quoted:
It's not a pre-ban and it's worth less than $275.

Practicing sarcasm before he tells us he only paid $800 for everything.

It does have a sear block.  All the mags are USGI.  It didn't come from colt like that.  All the parts that was changed out was with Colt preban parts.  I got all that for $1500.  Good or bad?

Be carefulabout the ser # facts on Biggerhammer. Acording to the site Ser number cch 010000 and above is post ban. I found a rifle today for a good price ser# cch 006470 and acording to Colt it was shipped in 1996. I almost bought it based on Bigger hammer facts. If you can verify with the manufacturer. I am sure if the legality of you assualt rifle was questioned the ATF/police would be calling the manufacturer and not Biggerhammer. Don't take it as a put down to the site there is awesome info available.

I just wish it would have been pre-ban for that price.
