The flattop would probably be better. With any scope 3x and above, you won't see the front sight. At the most it will be a small blur on the lower part of your sight picture. This way you can mount the scope as low as possible and still get a cheeckweld on a bare stock.

My take on the EOP is that it would let you use lower (and thus cheaper?) rings. If you're building something like a varmint rig, where you'll only mount a conventional scope, it might be a good option.
If you're building something more multi-purpose, where you might want to mount irons or an Aimpoint it'll limit your options. |
