A few weeks ago when I was shooting, I noticed a rattle coming from my carbine. I looked inside my RAS and could see that the heatshield was completely unattached and was just flopping around. When I took it off, I noticed that the attachment holes in the heatshield appeared to be elongated. This particular gun has not been fired that much, probably less than five thousand rounds since I put the RAS on. It appears to me that the aluminum was way too soft and thus defective. I called Knights and they told me that I was beat since the RAS was over one year old and out of warranty. They said that they would sell me just the lower piece again. Has anyone else had this happen?
