I thought I remember this being posted, but I can't remember where.
Will there be a 30SD adapter for A2 adapters? Will that be available seperately? |
|
Is there an adapter for direct thread onto the main body of the suppressor?
I see a taper mount direct thread adapter, but not one that screws into the main body like the pistol booster or extensions. |

So how is your production of the optimus going? I read earlier you expected a batch to go to Silencer shop before or during the week of Shot show. I'm guessing either the forms did not come in yet for that, or I simply was not on that batch. Do you have any pending Form3's to them or are you waiting on production?
I know, first time buyer and I just do not know what to expect. I'll be happy once my Form4 is in. |

No - that mount is 1.5" OD and the can is 1.375" OD So we used a system that worked for the product. |

So...I've watched videos, read reviews....I'm essentially sold.
As it comes in the box, what all configurations can you run with it, without buying an additonal adapter, etc? I'm still a little confused.... I know the following: Short version 9mm pistol w/ the piston included Direct thread full size with the taper mount included (30cal) Anything else? Or would I need to purchase more accessories? I'm planning on the A2 mount as I have a 30SD and several 5.56 muzzle devices of yours I'd want to be able to mount this, in the short configuration, on a .22lr pistol and rifle in addition to 9mm pistol and .308 direct mounts... Thanks!! |

|
I emailed Griffiin, again (very patient people), and asked them a couple questions about the Optimus.
1. What do you guys recommend to lube the booster piston? A: we use lock cease 20/20. I guess thread mate is a similar white anti/sieze 2. Are there any solvents you guys are aware of that would harm the TiN finish on the baffles when cleaning them? (Butches bore shine, M-Pro7, ect) A: none im aware of but the tin is a finish and may at some point wear. The optimus baffles are not tin coated. 3. Do you guys recommend coating the baffles with anything after cleaning/prior to use? (Breakfree CLP, Fireclean, ect) A: cleaning the outside of the baffles periodically with any of the products you recommended would make sense. That will keep dissassembly easy while you wait for substantial fouling to warrant a thorough cleaning. 4. How are the baffles made? (wire EDM?) A: wire edm is a technology used to true up warped welded cans. The optimus cans are machined so they are straight and the baffles are cnc machined also. Wire edm also has other drawbacks. Usually cans are fixtured relative to the mounting systems and an operator can do a poor job or incomplete job of mounting the can to a fixture and cut a diagonal bore that isnt true to the mount. The edm machine doesnt know or care what direction the workpiece is fixtured. |

How did it sound with the 9mm? It looks good on there. It was certainly comparable to the 9mm I was shooting through my Rev45 equipped Glock. |

So I was just putting together a list of pistol suppressors I might be interested in and literally stumbled upon the Optimus. Wow... I think I need one but a couple questions:
1) Assuming an adapter exists, would it work on a .458 SOCOM? <think this answer is no mostly due to baffle stack> 2) Are there plans (or even a market) to create an adapter to work on HK UMP barrel flanges? 3) Can you use the 9mm and .40/10mm three lug adapters on this suppressor from your Revolution line? As it stands I would be able to use this on .300 BLK AR, HK94 3-lug 9mm, clone MP5/10 with 3-lug, multiple pistols from 9mm-.40SW-10mm-.45 ACP. This really covers such a wide range of the spectrum. Spooky |

I watched the new Optimus instructional video, thank you for posting that. Couple questions when you guys get a moment. In this most recent video it is mentioned that the short configuration with direct thread adapter is compatible with centerfire supersonic ammunition, does that include 5.56 and 300 Blk? I ask because your website lists only subsonic 300 Blk, 9mm, 5.7mm, and rimfire. It would be even more appealing if this configuration is truly compatible with supersonic 5.56! Also do you have rough meter numbers for the short configuration with 5.56? IIRC, you posted it somewhere but I cannot find it. I did receive my A2 Optimus blast shield last week and it fits like a glove on all the 1/2x28 birdcages I have tried it on but not on the 5/8x24 birdcage on my 300 Blk. It is a solid, well machined piece of steel Almost at the three month mark on the form 3 for my Optimus, it is taking FOREVER!

View Quote The aluminum direct thread will work- it isn't the ideal mount because aluminum should not be used over about 350F and that means light sporting / hunting type use only. The 3 lug adaptor itself can be run to about 650F because its internal spring will work to about that temperature. The direct thread adaptors and 3 lug mount were designed for 9mm applications but the 17-4 couplers we sell make them so strong that strength is not an issue with supersonic calibers. Those mounts make sense for the short config, because the short config Optimus was intended for use inside those parameters (lower temperature lighter duty use). The Optimus silencer itself is most durable in the rifle config, so you can run the can harder in the configs with taper lok baffles than in the short config. The short optimus does ~139DB 300BLK supersonic, 136 subsonic, 149DB 556 supersonic with the 22lr front cap <all 1M mil std. The at ear on the 556mm ar15 platform is ~141DB like a typical to better 5.56mm can. |

What QD solutions are available for the Optimus?
I bought one today so it's in the NFA jail, but I'd like the QD system for my 22s, then the brakes for my 18"SPR (.223) and 18" R700 in 308. |
