Well...............................I got the new test mags.............and snatched one out of Richards hand as soon as he walked in my office.......and I proceeded to thumb load 20 rounds.....and on to the second sample....and then the third......went out to the test range...........and emptied all of them....and did it over and over till we had burned 300 rounds......no malfunctions...no problems......video to follow soon.....
Gonna burn a c ouple more thousand rounds in an attempt to induce problems....looks like we'll be developing a production schedule sooooon!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Are you using the new top mounted adapter you've talked about?
How about a mag loader for us old guys with arthritis in our hands? Actually this is the bottom load adaptor with a bolt in retention tab.....and I will be making mag loaders..... I'm old and decrepit too..... |

I need a couple of these for sure.

Will these work with the other style uppers of yours?

The new mag is designed to service both the DI Upper and the new blowback upper.....the magwell adapters are SLIGHTLY different....but a blowback adapter can be modified to run with a DI upper.

What is the cost of the magazines and adapter going to be?

Initially they will only be sold in upper conversion kits, we are shooting for $899 plus shipping for the blowback conversion that includes the complete upper, mag adapter, extended buffer , and a magazine.....the DI conversion will be $1199 plus shipping and will include the upper, adapter and two mags.
Separates without an upper initially will be limited to previous AR45 upper owners until we can get production stabilized. I should know actual production cost within the next month on the mags, still making a few decisions and will be running a production sample starting next week. Magwell adapters when released without a conversion upper will be $175. For all of you have been loyal customers in the past....we will have special pricing on adapters and mags ........contact me directly when you see the new website up.....that'll mean we have them on the shelf. The mags I have are 20 round....we have 10 round in production for those behind the lines.....debating making 15 round......I may just go with a screw attached floor plate for 15's unless the demand from Colorado and New Jersey surprises me....

View Quote How would the "screw attached floor plate" work? Permanently pinned or able to be taken down for cleaning? I'd love to get a set of 15s for mine, as I have the 10 round USC magazines (going to keep them as an option). Personal weapons mean I have to follow NJ rules... and I doubt any of that will change in the future. |

d16man -- If you like your AR9, you will LOVE the AR45. Rudy finished mine recently and after shooting it Friday, I will go broke buying 45acp ammo! It is an 8" DI that shoots great.
Btw: love the gif. |

I received my 8" DI 45, adapter and magazines last week, but couldn't get to the range until yesterday. I loaded up 5 magazines and stuck it on an SBR lower with a LWRC PDW stock. I mounted an Octane 45 to it and an Eotech on top. The only issues that I had were two failures to fire. One was from a bolt release dropped bolt on a full magazine and the other was after a single loaded round followed by a full magazine. Both times there was a light primer strike. I think that the bolt wasn't completely locked in because of the excess energy used in closing the bolt with the greater resistance of the first round in a full magazine. Otherwise it ran perfect! I am confident that loading one less round in the magazines or tapping the FA after loading the first round will correct the issue until things are a bit more broken in. I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed! It was smooth as silk and very quiet, even with a pistol can! I wanted to run it a bit before sticking it on a RR, but it is going to be sweet on full auto! I have a Bowers .458 can in process too, and it should be whisper quiet with that monster mounted. I am confident that this will end up my new favorite. How can you beat a suppressed DI 45? Ammunition is much cheaper than for my 300 Blackout configurations. Of course it starts out at .45 of an inch, and weighs 10 grains more than my heaviest 300 bullets. The 300 is not likely to ever expand at the low velocities, but a 45 ACP 230 grain JHP pill out of an 8" barrel will almost certainly expand while still staying subsonic. There could be no better suppressed configuration in my opinion.
Rudy, thank you for a great product! I am sold! |

Glad you are pleased.....if you look at the back corner of the mag where the case rim is.....it should be radiused from front to rear...had a few sneak by in this initial production run that didn't get done by the vendor.... But I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow of how it should look......also you can load 21 or 22 rounds in the new mag......but stick to 20...it is much more reliable...
That first round will smooth out...I promise....but in the meanwhile....bump the forward assist till it does.... |
