I should get a pin gauge set to see View Quote If you got a dial caliper, when I first checked mine I used mine and they read .059 after that I hit up my friend to use his pin gauges to get the exact size. Haven't heard what the size is supposed be yet but they did say the 16's are .062 so mine most likely got misdrilled. |

I got one of the new 16" barrels a week ago from Aim Surplus. I didn't have any pin gauges, but a .062 drill fit really tight. So, I'm going with .062" on the 16" barrels. Overall, a very nice looking barrel. Very nice, even manganese phosphate park finish.

Well, this blows, had a brand new 11.5 CHF sitting around for a build assuming it was a 0.68 port and after seeing the other thread with issues on the 16in barrels I measured my 11.5 and it has a 0.61 port which sounds like it has issues running full power 5.56 unsuppressed. Hopefully, Primary Arms will take it back without the cardboard tube lol.

Does anyone have info on the gas port size for the 10.3 barrels?

It runs perfect with standard 556 with out a suppressor. No complaints here. |

@GACS are 16" stripped barrels ever going to be available? I've seen 16" super duty stripped uppers available, the black is available now. Am I just going to have to buy a stripped upper to get the barrel I want and sell the rest?

Hope to have soon and will list gas port sizes this time when they are back too!

Quoted: Hey Guys barrels are coming soon and we wanted to get eyes on them before hand. 16" barrels will be the first in stock and we plan to have the other lengths coming out in batches every couple of weeks after. Dealers will be stocking these as well and we are excited to support them! Deets below for all of them with links to the pages. If there's anything else you'd like to see listed out in the pages, please let me know. Our barrels are precision machined and cold hammer forged at our state of the art facility in North Wales, PA. Our barrels are High Pressure Tested (HPT) and Magnetic Particle Inspected (MPI). There is one dimple machined in for a gasblock set screw. We'd do 2 but we understand people have specific gas blocks they use and the spacing can vary. Edit below because I jumped the gun on the gas port sizes! I see you’re making a 13.9 inch barrel now. Does this mean you’ll bring back 13 inch rails?
|
|
Quoted: Does that match what’s on the factory super duty rifles? View Quote Port sizes are slightly different since these barrels are for standalone use with a multitude of different parts. The barrels in the super duty firearms are optimized for the full gun where we make all parts and know exactly what's going in them. Out of the office this week for Christmas and New Years break but will update soon as I can! -GACS |

Was excited to see a 13.9 barrel. Until the gas port size of .081. Isn't that a massive GP even for a 13.9 that is over gassed to use less than optimal ammo? i think my 13.9 core is .077 and it feels way over gassed at that.
Also , no 13 rails is kind of a bummer too. |

Received my new 10.3 from Primary Arms yesterday. Looks nice from the quick look I had. Hopefully I can get it out tomorrow and potentially get it installed.

Kind of hijacking the thread but I think Geissele is missing a barrel opportunity here... I'm slowly replacing the barrels on most of my rifles with Geissele barrels, just a couple more to go, and I'm looking at my sort of precision/longer range rifle but realizing Geissele doesn't make a barrel for it... If there was some sort of 18" SPR/DMR barrel with rifle gas and a little heavier profile I'm sure a lot of people would be in for one.

Has anyone used one of these 10.3” barrels with the .062 gas ports?
Edit- seems too small for unsuppressed use |

Quoted: Has anyone used one of these 10.3” barrels with the .062 gas ports? Edit- seems too small for unsuppressed use View Quote Not yet. My wife's Turbo T2 is in jail still and likely will be until April. The gun runs well right now with a 10.3" barrel with .070 gas port. Runs with super 42 w/H3 with 193, but have to drop to my BCM spring and H1 for it to run my reloads of 24.5gr H335 and 55gr FMJ. I'm a little concerned about 193 and the H1 with it. I have some Hornady 5.56 75gr TAP and my 75gr reloads (pretty sure are hot) to try, but I don't exactly want to put this barrel in without the suppressor around just in case. I think it will be incredible with the Turbo T2, but I do want it to run with hot ammo, without the suppressor. ETA: I will also be switching from an AIM BCG to an REBCG. I assume but have no way to verify that the REBCG will be more efficient with gas. |

Quoted: Just received my Geissele 10.3 barrel from Brownells. Pin gauged at .062 @gacs. Are these barrels test fired or something from the factory? I took a bore scope to mine within minutes of opening the package and it looks like copper fouling in the bore. Any idea? Also, what’s the goop in my barrel extension? https://i.ibb.co/8dhLdjX/3-E0-A3-DB4-D7-E7-4-BC9-96-B7-9758-CBB3-C707.png https://i.ibb.co/n1NvBdM/0-BA27547-13-C6-4-E1-E-B0-C7-11-F38-F13-F8-F6.png https://i.ibb.co/gWMJHW9/01-F73-B01-6549-498-A-881-B-0-E4-B860419-A3.jpg https://i.ibb.co/qCkMMP0/CFA950-CD-5-E62-4-A81-8961-707727-B35-B98.jpg https://i.ibb.co/wQh5ZFn/739900-BC-0300-4713-A717-74-C4314-FD013.jpg View Quote All barrels are proofed, so they are shot. The coloring in the extension is fine, its from the finishing process of the extension. If there's some kind of oil build up I don't see that you mean, its most likely someone being a bit overzealous coating it for packing. -GACS |

Got mine installed today. Definitely cut some weight coming from an Expo Arms SOCOM barrel. I have not verified the gas port is .070 as advertised, but it shoots like it. It is on the left. 1/16" (.0625) drill bit barely goes in G 10.3. Haven't gotten the G barrel to the range yet. Attached File

I wonder if these new barrels are what has been going into complete uppers for the past few months
|
|
Commercial stand alone barrels are slightly different from the barrels in built uppers and guns. Primarily the gassing is optimized for the full G system with the built uppers / guns. The stand alone barrels are geared more for a wider array of components to function with. All are great shooters.

Finally got the 10.3" with .063 gas port out! 30 ish degrees, cloudy, some snow here and there, over 4k feet in elevation. G non tabbed upper, G gas block, G REBCG. Runs Federal 55gr bulk back .223 with an H1 buffer (didn't lock back on empty mag), Win 855, Frontier 193, and Hornady 75 gr TAP. TAP was the hottest and ejected to 3 o'clock with H1, I forgot to test it with Super 42 and H2 or H3. The others ejected to between 4 and 4:30/5. My loads of 24.5gr H335 under a 55gr FMJ didn't have enough gas to extract, let alone pick up another round. I'm happy. It'll get the Super 42 and H3 once the Turbo T2 gets out of jail.
