Final payment check was cashed August 8 or so, and I received a call from the very pleasant DeLaine confirming address, configuration, etc, a couple of weeks ago. They also charged my credit card for my "additional sights" a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully, my Shrike is "in the mail".

Darell, would you say that the total time elapsed since you sent in your final payment and received your upper was roughly 4 months?
Either way it would appear that the Shrike God has looked down fairly upon you and also happens to be good friends with Santa Claus, because you got your upper before Christmas like you requested. I wonder when I'll get mine. I shudder as to when I will actually receive mine. Post up some pics of that bad boy when you get the time so I can get all pissed off and rip the heads off a few cute little bunny rabbits I have laying around in cages just for such occassions. LOL. Received my Shrike a short time ago also... Thanks Ares...the wait was worth it.

Woohoo Got my Call today, Spoke to a very nice lady Tracy
Ill be checking the mail box everyday |
|

Life is full of sooooooooo many surprises!! Here I was driving home from work today crankin' some old Pantera when I glanced down to check my phone and realized that I had missed a call and had a voice mail...I did a quick scan of the phone number and didn't recognize it. So after I got home I checked the voicemail and found that I had a message from Tracy from ARES...I was like "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!" and quickly called her back, but got their mo-sheen and had to leave a message. Oh well I thought. Then about 15 minutes after calling her back she called ME back...what a nice gal, 'wonder if she's single?!
Anywho, looks like I'll be receiving my invoice sometime within the next couple few weeks or so, which means the light is getting brighter towards the end of the tunnel! Andy =8^) |

Sent my check last week. Let's see what happens.

Just got my second call from Ares today, first call was November25, 2010.
I will once again send (by mail) a copy of my form4 and my confirmation of address. Last time I was supposed to have gotten " the call" in about 4-5 weeks. Well, that didn't happen. Over a year later, hopefullly this go around it will be different. I'm still quite disturbed that I will have to pay $349.00 for the steel feed "upgrade" that was "stock" when I ordered in 2003. What can I say, I just hope one day I can take delivery of my upper and I will feel that it was all worth it. Wind |
|
|
Wind,
I'm not entirely thrilled but I suppose that $349.05 for the "upgrade" to the steel feedtray isn't so bad in the grande scheme of things, as I would much rather have steel than aluminum. Other "things" have gone away since we plopped down our deposits, but nothing was ever written in stone other than the final purchase price which we all know is less than the current price of an upper, and I feel that I'm still ahead of the game in that respect. From the Shrike parts thread, if purchased separately: *$349.95 for the aluminum feedtray *$699.00 for the phosphate steel feedtray *$789.00 for the electroless nickle steel feedtray From the above it looks like we're roughly paying for the price of a replacement aluminum feedtray for the ability to go steel from the getgo, and I can deal with that. Glad you got the call and I hope the coming months of waiting will go by quickly! Andy =8^) |
|
|
Thanks Drew and likewise for us all! Maybe we are near the end.

Just got my call from Tracy! Just information confirmation... No idea when final invoice would be mailed... At least it's something... Not too worried about upgrades etc, as maybe the standard configuration will change again before I get invoiced ;)
Not sure if it's light at the end of a tunnel, but just a bit more hope that it is a tunnel and not just a hole in the ground! |

Deposit 9-6-2002
Call 11-18-11 Invoice received 11-28-11 Check mailed 12-2-11 Ares Deposits 12-5-11 Check Clears 12-7-11 Now.................????????? What is amazing is that my interests/hobbies have now changed. Thinking about selling it and buying a nice pool cue, and yeah, collecting pool cues is as expensive and as addicting as firearms. Unfortunately, at this point, my aim with a firearm is much better than my aim with a pool cue. Ken |

I also got The CALL.
Yep 349.00 for the steel tray upgrade 440.00(I think) for the hard chrome plated steel tray. 100.00 to upgrade to the adjustable 16" barrel. Any thoughts? |
|
|
My thought? You can't go wrong with any choice, but I'd guess if they have the part in stock order it now and hopefully it'll arrive the same time as your upper.
I'm still waiting patiently for MY call, so i can also ponder over what options to add. Actually I know what options I want, so (hint) if you call me I'll send the form in quickly along with the funds. (hint hint) (please) |

Spoke to a friend of mine, we'll just call him FIFO...
He placed his order in January of 03 IIRC and he got "The Call" on Monday. Since I think I'm one of the last pre-orders I probably still have a while to wait, sigh.... I'm happy for the rest of you though! |

I may have you beat on being the last pre order, May 2004
It will get here when it get's here. |

Ok Just got the call. Now, what extra replacement parts should order. I will be putting it on a Bushmaster Lower. Any one have advice for buffer springs and spacers?
Hell must indeed have frozen over. |

What did this call consist of???
Did they say they were mailing an order form? I've gotten two calls but thats it no more paperwork or order forms. Just the two sets of my form four that I've sent to them now. Thanks-Wind |
|
|
They confirmed address ,phone , email and shipping address. They also said they were going to mail info pac and order forms and I should get it in about ten days.
I'll wait and see. |
|

Hell hasn't frozen over, but I think the temperature might be dropping!
I got my packet from Ares Friday with final ordering and invoicing paperwork. I hope this section goes faster than the previous! Wind |

Sending in my final payment Tuesday! Merry Christmas All! Wind |

'Wind,
How long did it take for you to receive your invoice package after getting the call? And did it come by the USPS or? I got the call on Dec. 5th but have not yet received my invoice...my post ban semi upper must be holding up the show, LOL... ...in any event, I'd like to wish Happy Holidays and a safe, prosperous and Happy New year to you and yours! Regards, =8^) |
|
|
DrewBone,
I received my invoice packet via USPS in a large envelope. It was received approximately two weeks from the time of my last verification call. After the call, I had to send in some more personal information. My final is going out today. Hope we will both be receiving and enjoying our uppers soon. I will be letting everyone know when it arrives and how it functions. Wind |
|
|
Drew,
I'm with you. Nothing since the call on the6th... Those semi bolt carriers ( which I thought I read here were unnecessary) must be behind the 'additional' delay... |

Who the hell would order such a lame configuration? Oh yeah, us poor unfortunate souls [bastages more like it, LOL] who happen to reside in Gun Hell, NY. Sigh. But hey, we need to think positively, right?! Maybe we'll get pleasantly surprised soon, or...argh, I can't think about it anymore!! Happy Holidays neighbor! =8^) |

Well, once again I saw the Big Brown Truck rolling through my parking lot today. Putting two and two together with the above proclamation, my adrenalin jumped. The BBT pulled up, stopped, the door slammed open, and the driver jumped out. Unfortunately, it was with a tiny brown package in his hand.
Shriked again !@! |

Are there any updates as to when those who received their confirmation calls early this past December can expect to receive their invoices? Thanks.
=8^) |
|
|
Drew,
Did Tracy tell you to expect an invoice? When she called me, I asked her when to expect it, and she said she didn't know when... |
|
|
tphank,
You know, now that I think about it, Tracy may have mentioned something similar. I guess my mind went into wishful thinking mode and wasn't really listening...crap, we could still be in for a long wait, sigh. =8^) |
|
|
The holidays are over. Any idea when I can expect an email with a tracking number??
Thx. |

Ok I have a question for ARES, I want to add a slide fire stock to my lower but if the bolt is a semi auto bolt, will the Shrike upper blow up in my face since the Slide fire simulates full auto fire!
|
|
|
Ares, I was called a month ago today to verify my address and was told my Invoice was sent out, I was wondering if it got lost in the mail or miiss addressed?
Any way to check / I dont have a fax machine either. Thanks Brent Kaplan |

I don't have a Shrike, but if the bolt is similar to the AR15/M16 platform, then it will have to "lock" in place in order for the free floating firing pin to set off the primer when struck by a hammer. BTW In the AR15 platform the Slide Fire Stock doesn't require a full auto Bolt Carrier to work. |

BTW In the AR15 platform the Slide Fire Stock doesn't require a full auto Bolt Carrier to work. Back when the AWB had just started and I don't know if this is true or not but I was told that when Colt started shaving the bottom lug off of their AR15 semi-auto bolt carriers and some of the other manufacturers had just a small ring, that if I were to fire 8 or so 30 round mags full auto with the Colt bolt carrier, it would crack and break and that the carriers with the small ring would last a little longer and this is because they didn't have the full bottoms that the full auto carriers have. So I was hoping this would not be the case for the semi auto configured Shrike with the Slide Fire stock! |
