Any idea on when the stripped upper A1 uppers will be available?
|
|
I would like to know the answer to this as well.
I would prefer C7 uppers though. |
|
Also curious about the Slickside uppers. Are they in our future?
|
|
Good news! According to merchandising in an update this morning the word is that we should see all of these variants in house in December!
That's the current news! Thank you all so much! |
|
Well, that is certainly interesting and relevant information.
All in black or will there be gray as well? |
|
For clarification, when you say "all of these variants", did you mean C7 uppers as well? A1, 604 /Slickside and C7 uppers have been mentioned so far.
If you guys are bringing C7 uppers back to market, then well done. |
|
No C7 uppers at this time, unfortunately.
There maaaaaay be some gray coming... |
|

Not only is it december, but IDK if you meant we'd have M16 and/or M16A1 uppers this month
|
|
I'm becoming impatient as well. I'm on the live chat with Brownells right now and asked about their 080-001-303WB (BROWNELLS - AR-15 M16 A1 UPPER RECEIVER). I was told the representative was not seeing an "estimated delivery date." Following up with a supervisor right now, just to verify...
Edit: Supervisor said "we are anticipating, but no guarantees of the end of December on into January." Hmm.... |
|
After doing a little research at Nodak Spud (the forges Brownells uses), their site shows a back order status of 6-8mo. So, one can assume we're only about two or three months deep into that. Not looking promising.

I've a $400 order waiting on the 1:7 20" retro barrels to come back in stock, but if we're looking at another 6 months wait on these, I might cancel and move on to another project.
@Brownells can you update the expected ETA, please? Do you actually have one or is this simply wishful thinking at this point? |

We apologize for the delay. We are on track to have receivers this month.
The biggest delay is getting the forgings from the forge house. These are not produced in quantities like an M4 upper or A2 lower, so they are essentially special runs. More receivers are on order than ever before and we have a better forecast to avoid these long delays. As a result should have improved availability in 2018. We're not happy with our ability to get these in-stock and are committed to making this line more accessible in 2018. |
|
It's already halfway through the month and there's no sign of the uppers. I have 4 weeks off until I have to get back to work, so this is my window to build. I'm waiting for a slick and an A1 upper to become available. Any idea when we are expecting these?

Well Brownells better start giving a straight answer because I'm about to get a new provider. This is upsetting because I'm wasting my precious and limited time waiting for them.
I'm a student with only a month off before my schedule gets crammed again. I've been waiting in the promise that they'll be out in Dec but I might run out of time if they don't get them. |

I’m happy for the loose eta. There isn’t many options so I don’t mind waiting. I hope they don’t raise the price because I can certainly see by the demand they could

I'm not happy about this. I have been waiting since September to complete my build, and now I have another build in the que. I don't want to pay out the A$$ for a NOS or for a well used chunk of aluminum for just a shooter that has no original parts.
|
|
Guess it is time to hit up Nodak. Should have done this a while ago.

The North Dakota ( Potato) Spud Farmer will not be rushed
I was on a 6 month wait on a lower/upper matched set. I wound up with a blem lower only due to anodizing issues I've since cured my RBRD |

Hit the 'notify when available' tab on the page so you don't have to remember to check. They'll email you when they come back. Saves a bit of hassle.

Uppers are en route now. We are not happy with how long this has taken either. We will have a nice assortment we think everyone here will be pleased with.

Heads up guys, noticed some changes to the A1 page off Brownells.
https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/receivers/upper-receivers/ar-15-m16-a1-upper-receiver-prod83620.aspx As you can see, there is now the option to purchase a gray A1 upper. There is still a chance to back order it FYI. Sucks for most of us seeing as how our lowers are probably black. Edit: Lowers now have the gray option as well.... https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/receivers/lower-receivers/ar-15-m16-a1-blemished-lower-receiver-prod107496.aspx |

Haha yeah.
On another hand I don't get it. Brownells mentioned more uppers were enroute and that they thought there would be a sufficient enough quantity. They also mentioned there would be a variety. It seems they just added new items (that we're out of stock from the get go) and allowed some to be placed on back order. In the meantime, the black A1 uppers are still sitting in the same lonely "out of stock" corner. For people like me who have been waiting two months if not longer on a single part to complete a build, it's rather frustrating to see even more different models and colors of retro parts released when they can't even keep above water with the original black uppers/lowers. |
|
It's great that they will have gray A1 uppers and lowers, but won't you still need a gray charging handle, a gray trigger guard, a gray buffer tube and a gray slip ring to go along with it?
I haven't seen anything on those items becoming available. |

Quoted: I think so but I back ordered the gray upper since nothing has happened with the black upper for two months. At this point I just want the build to be finished rather then a heap of parts. The delay has caused me to not care, unfortunately. View Quote I've thought about buying a gray upper and lower but that would leave me waiting yet again for all of those other gray parts to be made available. |

Quoted: Oh trust me, it would drive me nuts too. But I have a hunch the black A1s are having issues or might not come back. That or it could be half a year before ever in stock and/or everyone who wants one is able to buy one. View Quote |

I've never seen a from-factory vietnam era XM grey rifle in the flesh, but I would think that one would need a grey upper, lower, trigger guard, LPK (because magazine release, trigger, trigger guard, selector switch, etc), slip ring, charging handle, the barrel assembly, and perhaps the buffer tube would all need to match. They have a complete rifle they show off on occasion with green furniture and "grey" receivers with a black barrel assembly. Needless to say, it doesn't look quite right.
I'm going to hold out for a black upper. I suppose if worse comes to worse I can try to find an A2 upper, or God forbid an A4 flattop if I was really hurting. Brownells hasn't wronged me yet, so I'm going to put faith in their word to increase production for the new year. |
