This is a cut and past of a report I did for a local Vegas board on the DPMS LR-6.5CM rifle
DPMS 6.5 Creedmoor Range Report
With three members of the board now having a DPMS LR chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor in hand I am going to sit down do range report.
Not a good start, the first rifle (mine) would not run short stroking every round and had to be sent back to DPMS.
However I'm sure DPMS it will get it fixed and sent back to me in a timely manner
The gas block on the rifle was bleeding gas past the barrel causing the short stroking.
Will post the repair results for the rifle when I get my hands back on it.
Saturday (11/09/2010 )Vegas 50 and I met at Desert Sport Park with two DPMS LR-6.5 Creedmoor rifles and one DPMS LR in 308win.
V50 had a friend with him and was letting him use his 308 DPMS rifle and his ammo (thank's V50 for helping the new shooter with a rifle and ammo he did quite well).
The two DPMS 6.5CM ran well shooting sub MOA out to 500 meters with no FTF/FTE.
V50 was shooting new factory ammo I had some hand loaded stuff.
Mag Pul P-Mags were used
Scopes were Nightforce/ Luepold M5
6.5CM round has the ballistics of a 300 Winchester Magnum and recoil of a 243 Winchester rifle.
With a 100m zero this is the DOPE that what was needed to get out to 500M.
200m up .5 mil
300m up 1.2mil
400m up 2.2mil
500m up 3.2mil
The 6.5CM @ factory load spec is 2,750/2700 out of the gas gun's and will stay sonic out to 1,400 meters
6.5CM is a .10mil better in the wind than a 300wm flater shooting than a 308 and will fit in any short auction rifle that has a 308 bolt face .
Factory 140g Hornady 6.5CM match ammo running @ 23.00 a box reasonably priced and easy to reload.
The Hornady brass is excellent 12 reloads on the brass running 140 A-MAX bullets over 41.5g of H-4350.
Run out is holding between .0000 and .004
If your looking for a rifle to run the Tactical Matches or just a good Long Range plinking rifle give one a try
I will be shooting this week so if anyone would like to see the rifle running in person hit me up with a PM.
