Rollmarks are mostly phased out. You will have to find a 2017 production carbine probably if you are insistent on a rollmark.

Picked up one today myself. 'C' stamped keyhole upper unmarked BCG with MPC bolt, no white paint dot 01/18 barrel with CAGE code, stock with CAGE code Non-F FSB. I bought this one for the lower and am parting out the upper, but if these stay regular production, I will likely pick up a second to leave as-is. View Quote |

My issue rifle. It has been converted to M4A1 but the caliber markings did not change.

So are the “Property of US Government” lowers that are rollmarked now collectors items?

taken from current GB auction listings. my lower is also CR018xxx range and is rolled, not engraved. total bummer if this is the norm going forward, the text looks off to me. QR code also got huge as someone else mentioned not sure if someone mentioned i here or i read somewhere else, but MIL marked lowers do not have the period after MM https://i.imgur.com/Ss8tah6.png View Quote Cheers |

Been looking online tonight to buy a SOCOM but identifying whether you are getting a rollmark or laser engraved is pretty much impossible it seems. ??

Supposedly Colt was having issues with light strikes on the rollmarks and went with engraving until they remedied the issue. |

Quoted: There were some very light strikes on the left side of some rifles. Someone on here had posted a picture of the one he got like that. I wouldn’t have been happy with the way that one looked. I was a little worried about what I was going to get when I got mine. Left is a little light on it but acceptable. View Quote I’m looking at posts in the other thread that had 2018’s in it and everyone is using the word rollmark. All the photos have the period after the mm and other than the qr being small the (engraving?) rollmark looks the same as what’s on this page. confused |

If anybody has a lead on SOCOMs that have Property of US government that’s rollmarked and not engraved - please share. Been looking around for one.

Probably wouldn’t even had been noticeable had there not been one a lot worse than that posted. |

So it seems someone mentioned that some equipment might have been down and that’s why we are seeing engravings vs stamped on these SOCOMs. Is that correct or has Colt gone completely to engravings on all new production?

Yes - Serial looks to be engraved and the Colt lettering and logo rollmarked
|
|
@under9
Mine is like that too actually. Engraved serial - rest is rollmarked... |

Nah, non issue. Got 3 like that, shoot fine. Even if they were M4A1, I'd not worry. Not a collector. To each their own though. |

Quoted: Was it ever confirmed if the "M4 Commando" roll-marked lowers that were from the Italian market were seconds? All the units that i've seen including mine have light-strike roll-marks. Cheers View Quote Engraved now, so nodody can bitch about light markings, now they can bitch about engraved lowers. (Which look like shit, IMO. ) |

I bought this with the intent of using the lower for a clone build, but so far I have not been able to split it up. Now thinking I will keep it complete and as is, and just enjoy it. Feels simple and just right, only addition being the comp m2. Likely will try and source a 2nd rolled lower to SBR though. https://i.imgur.com/DoukqNB.jpg View Quote Cheers |

Are the lugs actually thinner or does it just look like it due to the angled edges on the front of the lugs?

|
The lugs on the new bolt appear thinner, but if the even if it is due to the rounded edges, the overall thickness of the bolt head (easy to see around the extractor) is definitely thinner. The MPC2 also looks engraved, compared to the penciled "MPC" on my other Colt bolts.

Anyone's SOCOM have a bolt marked MPC2 like the one I posted?
|
|
It is legit. My recent Colts have rolled markings, engraved serial numbers.

Quoted: I would hope not, but it probably came that way knowing Colt. Those are the lower quality ones from the Expanse line. View Quote With all of the other reported changes, I have been wondering if there has been any variance in the small parts. Someone posted their new rifle and it had a standard Schmid Tool safety selector and not the "no tick" selector that Colt typically uses. I never got an answer as to whether it came from the factory that way or if he changed it out. |

Using up the 1 pc mag catches huh?
Colt is determined to shoot themselves in the foot.... |
|
Ah, Hell. I missed that.
Looking @ the thread, I just noticed it on a rifle on the 1st. page too. Dammit Colt. |
