What are you going to do with it? I sit here thinking, what to do with one of them? Will it be a waste if the lower isn't registered for an SBR?

[#1]
If anyone registers it as an SBR, they would be foolish to engrave the lower with their info instead of the barrel. I'm going to keep mine stripped for a while.

I got 2. I plan to SBR one and put a commando upper on it and pin a xm117 type hider to another commando upper and keep it out of the NFA registery.

For now I am putting the new SB Tactical sliding brace on them along with a 6933 upper on one and a mk18 upper on the second one and the 3rd I will probably put a 6921 upper on it...6933 uppers are in stock at AU as of 15 minutes ago,was 7,before I grabbed one ...good luck View Quote |

I apologize, but I must be missing something. Are you modifying these uppers? As they come from the factory, they'd all require a tax stamp for the lower, unless something has changed since I last paid attention to SBR stuff. View Quote I may got pistol route, but I was also thinking of a Form1 with Silencer Shop's one-shot trust. The trust name is the serial number, so I could just get the upper engraved with S# and city/state. Only issue with that of course is that I am awaiting transfer on a 6945, so not sure I want to bother with a "regular commando", plus it says M4 Commando... I dunno. Maybe I'll do an A1 upper with a pinned long-hider, just for fun. Most likely I'll just put the lower away and forget I have it for a while until inspiration hits. |

Commando
Heres what they were originally made for I assume, could have a 12 inch barrel or 14.5. I assume that its a 11.5 barrel and they just call it 12 inch? I dont know. Sad that we follow Gun laws from the 1930's here in America, and they can use whatever length barrel they want over there in some European countries. |

I'm not enthusiastic about the price, but I think it would look nice putting one of Specialized Armaments Colt 6944-SE uppers on one of these. It's the one that they machine and pin weld a FH to make a 14.5" upper a non-NFA item at 16". Therefore, no pistol or SBR. I like how those uppers look.

Is this correct? I thought you can only do the barrel if the upper is the registered component like with the SCAR. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I'm not sure, please go read the ATF regs and let us know. I think I have a letter from the ATF that also states I wasn't required to mark a form 1ed SBR, but I can't remember. View Quote https://www.ar15.com/forums/armory/Engraving-Location-Requirements/17-480227/ |

Only the serial number is required to be on the frame/receiver. The additional required markings may be engraved on the barrel, frame or receiver.
If you'd like to place your additional required NFA markings elsewhere, write the Director of ATF (in duplicate) seeking approval for an alternate location/method (or in the case of a DD you may request omission of the markings over safety/impracticability concerns). 27 CFR § 479.102 26 U.S.C. §5842 |
