It would be stellar if Colt offers these uppers as a kit.

The other two sellers (shown in pics) routinely turn down bids of $1600 to $1900. I would love to get one, but no way i'm paying that kind of price. These things should cost no more that a 6940 upper. I will wait. |

I had been shopping for a Colt 6945 SBR since the first of the year
Phoenix Law Enforcement Distributors was the exclusive seller of the 6945/6946. I called them several times asking to buy one, they allways said no as i'm not a Law Enforcemnt Officer. (This is somewhat ironic since i got my used 6933 SBR from them via gunbroker auction) The Clyde Armory ad pops up the other day and i placed my order for one monday. My transfer dealer says i can arrange a demo shoot with him when it comes in. Pics and/or video for that...........I can't wait! |
After seeing these pics I could not help myself. I ordered one of the 6945 uppers to replace the upper on my 6933. UPS tracking shows it will be here next week. I will post pics as soon as I get her in.... Dang Colt and their awsome frekin guns

By the way, I've been thinking about doing the same to my 6933. |

I ordered it from SAW. I think Mark said it was the only factory one he had left but I may have heard him wrong so call and check.

Wonder if that's added by Clyde's or by Colt. Interesting to see Colt's with alternative stocks thoiugh, kinda like the SHOT pics from a year or two ago with all the Vltor furniture.

I'm not that wild about the new Rogers stock, maybe it will grow on me.
Now if the new stock was the Colt SCW stock, i would be going freakin' nuts. |

Rumour is that the stocks may be Colt marked. A Colt dealer (Dennis Todd) is getting some in maybe this week, so we shall see.......

NT4- STAT!

It looks like the blue-box uppers have a bayonet lug and the factory SBRs do not. (Not sure about the upper in the first post.)
The bayo lug may interfere with some suppressor mounts. |
The raison d'etre of the 10.3" barrel is in no uncertain terms the shortest you can cut down an M4 barrel and still mount an M4QD (NT4) suppressor. The FSB was left intact at Crane, including the bayonet lug.
Colt has traditionally lopped off the bayonet lugs of their SBR models like the RO733-LE6933 family (11.5" barrels) as well as "SP" suffixes (10" barrels) back to the XM177-series. Their MK18 and CQBR barrels have retained the bayonet lug because that's the way the military orders them, and it appears that in retaining the barrel length of the CQBR, they're tending towards retaining the bayonet lug as well. The Roger's stock thing is all sorts of wonky IMHO. ~Augee |

Colt contracted with Bill Rogers for these stocks. Standard stock for Colt now. I wrote the review you refer to–––– One on my blog and the long review here http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2011/08/24/rogers-super-stoc-ar-15-stock-review/

Was able to zero the beast at 50 yards today with no problem. Using PMC Bronze 55GR .223 she was already on the paper out of the box. Came 6 clicks right and 3 clicks up and she was dead on using Hornady Urban TAP 55GR .223. Finished up the day pinging the steel at 150 yards with no problem using the factory sights. Now to find funds for an Aimpoint H1....

Hate to say it, but something is off on that SAW 6945. The barrel is cut way to close to the FSB. That looks like maybe 10.1 " versus 10.3"? You might want to pull the Flashider off and see if it is a cutdown 16" barrel. Factory barrels have a crisp 90 degree cut where the threads return/step into the barrel. Cut down barrels normally have a radiused cut. That might be why the Bayo lug is chopped in order to cut it down? Should have a bayo lug as all the Colt 10.3 MK 18's I have seen have one.
Yep its one of their SP models so its cut by SAW. And I agree it does look shorter than 10.3.... Its all good though SAW does great work...
Yes, 10" barrel and it shoots great!
I had no worries buying from SAW. |
