I have been a Bushy fan for a very long time. I will always choose their stuff over anyone else's if possible. I'd like to share my recent experiences, though.
Several months ago, I ordered a Dissipator upper with the M4 profile barrel. This was when they first started offering that configuration. I ordered the upper online and, since they didn't have a part number for that particular configuration, I had to put my requested barrel profile in the special instructions. When I received the upper it had the heavy profile barrel. I decided to keep it since the weight wasn't really a huge issue. No love lost.
A few weeks ago, I ordered a postban 20" gov't profile barrel and had it sent to a 'smith to have it mounted on an RRA upper. When I received the upper I starting having feed issues. It turns out there was a bit of a sharp edge on the left feed ramp that was catching rounds as they fed. As you can imagine, I wasn't anxious to go through the hassle (financially and physically) of getting it resolved as there were two parties involved (Bushmaster and the 'smith) and the upper was made of mixed parts. A friend of mine offered to buy it so I sold it at a bit of a loss. Still no love lost.
Fianlly, last week I ordered a complete postban A3 upper with a 20" gov't profile barrel. I phoned in my order as I wasn't confident I would get what I ordered by doing things online. After the rep took my order, I asked him to read the order back to me as I want to make sure I get what I want. His reply was, "you don't trust me?. I said, "I've got the wrong product before" to which he replied, "I understand" and politely read back my order. I received my upper today and, alas, it's a preban. Yep...a paperweight that will land me in prison if I even think about putting it on my postban lower.
I called Bushmaster to set up the return of the wrong upper. I was told that I would be sent a return label. After I got off the phone, I realized that it was going to be 2 weeks before I got my upper back. This didn't sit well with me. I called back and asked if they could just ship the correct upper out tomorrow to arrive by the end of the week as I planned to use it this weekend. I would then ship the incorrect upper back upon receipt of the return label. I was told that the only way they could do that is if I order a new upper and then they credit me upon return of the incorrect upper. I guess the reason this doesn't sit well with me is because of the sales person's attitude when I asked him to read back my order. He gets offended that I would ask such a thing and then ships me the wrong product.
Anyway, this is definitely not a flame against Bushmaster. I still love their stuff and will continue to buy it. The quality is not an issue. The problem is I'm developing a flinch everytime I'm about to place an order. I guess I just wanted to vent a little.
