To me there are two purposes for a combat or tactical AR rifle - Bushmaster makes a barrel for only one of the two.
First Bushmaster makes a nice M-4 light weight barrel in both pre-ban and post ban making for a short light weight flat-top rifle for close quarters battle with the red-dot of your choice on top. The Patrolmen's carbine is an excellent build on this concept.
The second barrel isn't made by Bushmaster except in a pre-ban rifle. I want a 20" long light weight barrel with an A2 upper - front and rear sights. To the handle I would mount an ACOG making for a long range light weight shooter. HBAR barrels are too heavy and don't add anything to the accuracy level needed on the battle field for the designated marksmen.
So can/will Bushmaster mount a muzzle brake or cut the threads off the SP1 light weight barrel?
