I just bought a brand new Bushmaster XM15E2S 20" Hbar from AIM surplus, but I am bugged by a few issues with the finish. There are a couple of brass marks on the case deflector, were those from factory test firing? There's also some slight wear marks inside the mag well from magazine insertion. Could that be from factory test too, or not?
I'd also like to know what kind of finish is on the lower receiver. It looks like there's one tiny spot right behind the Bush logo, about 1/32", that has flaked off, with shiney aluminum showing. It's tiny, but very visible due to contrast. Also when I look at the bottom of the barrel(?) thru the vent holes in the bottom handguard, there are 2 spots, one 1/4" and another 1/8", showing shiney white metal as well. They dont' look like normal wear marks, but they do appear as if the finish has flaked off, or bumped off. Nothing could really touch those spots due to handguards, so maybe it occured during the assembly of the rifle?
Other than that, the rifle looks brand spanking new, with all accessories appearing packed new as well. This is my first AR15 so I'm not sure whatelse to check to make sure it's a new firearm, and not a return from another customer. I know AIM is a great shop and Bushmaster does outstanding work as well, but I'm just bothered by these blemishes on a supposedly brand new rifle. Anyone with experience please shed some light on this, thanks.
