I purchased a new VMatch a few months ago and didn't really have time to spend with it at the range until this past weekend. I am very disappointed with the accuracy.
I have a Leupold CQ/T mounted on the rail, correctly torqued bolts on the Leupold mount. I use CLP to clean the weapon and bore.
I sighted the scope at 50yds prior to moving to 100yds. I wanted to see what bullet weight the weapon preferred, as well as brand, so I grabbed several boxes of what I have on hand. Using Malaysian surp 55gr, SA M1A4 surp, Olympic SS109 and Ultramax 68gn match the weapon was incapable of firing tighter than a 5" 10-shot group at 100yds. I cleaned the bore between each type of ammo, to keep things consistent for grouping purposes. Needless to say, I was extremely disgusted with these results and didn't bother to waste any more ammo that day. BTW, wind was >5mph and temp was 56degF.
I know the weapon isn't broken in yet, but my BM 16" and preban OA CAR both shoot better than that with the Malaysian surp, and the 16" will shoot 1.5" consistently with the SS109 and M1A4.
Please give me some suggestions as to what the problem might be. I am a fair shot, with my 700 .308 and match bullets I can cloverleaf 5-shot strings all day at 100yds, so I really don't think it's me.
