Thank you in advance, consider them said/responded to with appreciation you precious slutrags.
The Big Man (or Highpockets) is gone. A bro we've known since they were flying Apollo missions phoned and said The Big Man passed in late Feb of complications from an infection. Apparently he was in isolation or quarantine for 6 months, told Greg (who we've known since they were flying Gemini missions) that if they released him and it came back he was a goner. Apparently it came back. At 6 foot 8, he towered over our graduating class of 750 (large school, rated tops in the country in '75, some 2,000 students in 3 grades). He was one of our Party Animal Corps/Core, we knocked some brain cells out in the 70's, the stories are EPIC! (most a bit too long or too radical for here) In those days, there were 2 cops on night shift in our sleepy burg. You could pull over and stop on certain arterials and have your way with the penal code or your date. His mom fell asleep at the wheel and wrecked when he was about 12, endured back pain his whole life. Dad was a WWII Intelligence Officer, mom the prototype American of her Gen. At 6'8", of course he drove a blue VW Beetle in those days (a blue Jeep later.) He was your political clone, wouldn't suffer fools, was widely read and studied WWII, he made a ritual of certain imbibing arts to assist controlling back pain. Decades ago, we'd pick up a new LP, get a Stop & Go Pizza, rebuild/perfect it, listen to new tunes on our Hi-Fi's with certain games muted on TV while playing a scathing game of Cribbage in Winters. Damn, we were young. Just mentioned The Big Man to MissB Sunday... Blast, RIP Jim |

Blast, RIP Jim Got much history in that era; you've all got that core group you knew from kids to middle age, seems like the Middle Ages now when you first palled around and learned the ropes. An eccentric that will be missed. |
