Oh hey, me too! 2 each 25 and 10. Now, what to do with my 5's...?

Same here, after I gave up and ordered two more last night from somewhere else and was going to cancel my order in the morning, go figure. Oh well more is better.

Do UU kits with a LaRue lower count? I was finally able to get to the range today, and despite the heat and wind, was quite pleased with how it shot. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4384/37337623821_9643476215_c.jpg Best group of the day https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4425/37308488632_1c0f5e2bfc_c.jpg Followed by https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4493/36628245194_2a1f8cdf12_c.jpg Hornady Blacks grouped the best/most consistently. The Hornady 123gr SST's were around 1 MOA and the Alexander Arms 129gr SST's were sub MOA. Next time I'll take it to the 300 yard range to determine which ammo I'll use for deer season. I'm sure any of them will work just fine. View Quote |

If it wasn't for the vacation coming up for the wifey, I'd buy one. I want a 6.5 pretty bad... Anyone heard how long the UU kit will be available?

So far, so good. First 57 rounds in, and it seems to prefer the 120 Federal loads. I haven't run the custom yet, it's too pretty. The ELD runs about 1.25ish for my best 10 round group. I'll take it.
120 Federals: Attached File ELD 10 round groups, this represents 1/3 of the total round count so far, so I'd say it's pretty representative of my current skill level. Long way to run yet. Attached File The journey begins here, I'm excited at the improvement potential. I don't think I out shot the shootist, he left me with a .497 ELD-M 3 rd group. So, no surprise the rifle and the shooter is/was way better than I am. |

Do you guys have any concerns with 6.5G ammunition availability in the future? I don't mind ordering from afar if it disappears from local shelves. and of course saving brass.
Thanks |

First time 6.5grendel owner. This is the UU kit. Nightforce 2.5-10x32 mil-r. LT807 mount. Only difference in this is I used a red spring and h2 buffer because I added the Surefire 762 suppressor.
Attached File I didn't have much time to sight it in and shoot groups. I shot all 50 rounds in under an hour. Sighted it in for 100y and then shot steel at 400y. All prone off a bipod. I purposefully shot two different lots of 123gr Hornady ELD-M Black to see a difference. I didn't have time to use the magnetospeed so I'll have to do that next time. I shot this 5 round group to begin with. First round far left high of center. The last shot was far right Attached File Next I shot some 3 round groups. Attached File The top three were with one lot. The bottom 2 were with a different lot. All and all the 2 lots were consistent on paper and steel. I'll magnetospeed the 3 different lots that I have when I can. This was the steel at 400y Attached File First shot was low. I dialed up and then the rest were center punch. I took one headshot. The high shoulder was my fault for sure. I was having so much fun tinging steel that I don't know how many rounds hit the steel but I know how many rounds missed... 0 I promise to go back and try to shoot some tight groups on paper one day, or I may just go to a pasture and range and shoot steel at 800 or so, which is always more fun Final thoughts... Holy hell I'm glad I have one of these. It's probably the easiest shooting rifle I've ever owned. Now I get why LRRPF52 says get one. Now all I can think is should I buy a "spare." |
|
I'm so glad I bought one after seeing these reports. I haven't shot mine yet and I'm still waiting on the FDE lower. I might have to put it on a spare lower and go punch some paper Friday.

I'd guess the sale of 6.5 Grendel ammunition / components damn near doubled since the LaRue FDE and UU were released. View Quote |

https://i.imgur.com/C5XIkS6.jpg Finally got to shoot mine today. Only had time for 40 rounds (factory ELD-M), this is the best group of the day. Nothing to brag about, but I think it'll get better as it gets a few more down the pipe. The chin weld on the RAT stock doesn't do it for me though, will have to replace. Will chrono next time too. I had some problems getting the elander mags to feed with the bolt release, had to use the charging handle while the bolt was locked back to get it to feed. ACS mags worked normally and were easier to load too. View Quote |

Are the ASC mags the same as AR Stoner? They look identical and when I do a google search for ASC, both come up. I haven’t ordered mags yet and was going to get E landers but your post has me re thinking that decision.

I don't know, is that even a thing? Time will tell, although I don't get to shoot very often so it will take a while. |

Is there reason not to shoot hornaday 123gr ELD? It can be had for $18 a box. And I have I was getting hits at 940 m and 1100 m on saterday .. ( would have been more consistent if I could chase the bugs out of my shooting but that's another story)
Are there better alternatives in terms of downrange performance with out reloading ? And after about 300rd.. what is the best way to get the carbon off this pretty brown gun ? Lol |

I really like the STR. Club type foot on the bottom is great for a rear bag

So thinking about an a5 stock for the 6.5 Grendel and noticed this...
m4 mil spec= 7.3” Magpul 762 = 7.8” LaRue 762= 7.875” VLTOR a5= 7 15/16 = 7.9375” ***these are all from the websites or from LT forum in case of LT tube. Double check my numbers just in case So anyone ever use a 762 LaRue receiver extension like an A5 and use the A5 buffer spring (like from heavy buffers) for a small frame? Was thinking a heavy buffer spring for the Grendel would be sweet and I have a spare LT receiver extension laying around. |

View Quote ...When the empty case was ejected, it somehow ended up stuck between the BCG and the forward edge of the ejection port, inline with the chamber...almost like the buffer was moving too fast....Crushed three cases that way before I swapped to another lower with the standard carbine buffer/spring which worked fine... ...Oh, and for the record, the internal dimensions of the LT 7.62 tube and the Vltor A5 tube are identical, just the exterior dimensions are slightly different....I measured both before I used the LT tube with the A5 spring/buffer.... ETA: Oh, and the A5 system with Sentry 7 adjustable gas block tuned to the load and Lantac Dragon MD is sweet...I run that set up on my 20" Stealth and if you can get a good prone position you can see the impact at 100 yards....less recoil than a 10/22... |
