Trying to decide if I take the 260 out one last time this season. It looks like this weekend might be good for some range time.

Friend was trying out a new 6.5CM so we set up 3 targets right next to each other with a 4th (not shown) in the center and below these 3. After a few misses I got quite a few hits. Drove down and repainted the targets, adjusted scope, then shot some more. Last 4 shots the spatter was enough to flip the flipper target on the left 4 times in a row. Called it a day after that. So much for Quantico today. We were going to start at 300and move back, but they opened an adjacent range (R3) for Marines who were shooting Table 2, so they start at 25yards and eventually make their way back to 100yards. You can't shoot behind anyone on an adjacent range so, I decided to just come home (you also can't shoot steel at 100 at Quantico). Tomorrow is a 1,000y only day, so maybe I'll just do that instead.

Awesome pic's and shooting!
What MOA difference have you noticed at 100 yards with and without the suppressor? I see 2 MOA with the Omega. Does that mean I should add 20MOA for a 1000 yard shot? |

View Quote Same with calling your shots, you don't need to translate the hits and misses to inches, they are still going to be MOA. That's why they put all them fancy subtentions on our optics. I was calling shots for the guy next to me shooting his Rem700 in 308. He had DOPE for 600, but none for 1,000. He also was using the FGMM's velocity table, which was for a 20" barrel and he was shooting a 24" barrel. I was also calling his shots in MOA and telling him how much to dial in to his scope. He kept asking me how many inches, so we had to take a break so I could explain MOA and the subtentions on his scope. He was struggling as for 50 years he's thought in inches, not angles. |

So what amount of shift do you see with the suppressor? |

Shift distance can occur in almost any amount there is no set number. So you add your can to the weapon, and you previously learned what the shift was, you could dial the number of known clicks down up left right in the correct combo to zero. Once you remove you take off the clicks up down left right that you added to compensate for the can. Once your zerod you shoot as normal just adding for elevation and drift. I hope that helps, and I may have over simplified it for you but I was unsure what you needed. |
