Got my set of barrels today.
I also got 2k of 224 bullets for plinking. Amazing how heavy that was compared to the barrels. My daughter was walking up to the door and said "Dad, your hunting stuff came in. There's another box with that Aardvark on it" |

I received my two barrels today, along with a case of 90gr FGMM. I'll be interested in how those heavier bullets perform.

Here's the first group (I bore sighted the rifle): CCB was the lower left, 2nd in the bull, 3rd was below the bull. Best group of the day was with the TQ: 100 yards, Larue grid target, TQ shot 2MOA low. Three shots showed promise, two did not. As I said, I need to get my position and breathing correct. |

What are some of the app's and programs you guys are using for the target shots and grouping calculations? Don't mind doing it with calibers or a ruler, but having the computer do the work for me would be nice.

The one I posted with is Ballistic AE, but its kind of a pain to use on the small screen of a phone.
I think another one people use often is On Target, and I want to give that one a go once I start getting out a little more frequently. |

Still B/O'ed here too. Not in any rush. Just had shoulder surgery so I can't shoot any rifles for another 4 weeks.
|
|
|
Still on B/O here as well. I’m in no rush either, trying to decide if I want to canabalize an old AR with a less than stellar barrel for the Valkyrie or hold out to see what’s next for us hold outs.
Either way it will likely sit in with my spare barrel collection for a bit. |
|
|
Still waiting. I'm going to have some open time week after next to put a rifle together; I hope the barrel makes it in time.

Still BO status. #622228. Ammo ordered. Stealth 2.0 standing by.

Interesting post from another forum, anybody seeing any issues with the LaRues?
"Dear JP customer, If you are receiving this email, it means your current order for one of our JP Supermatch™ barrels in .224 Valkyrie is eligible for fulfilment in our first production run. But, because of the unforeseen complications of developing barrels for a brand new caliber like this, we wanted to contact you before completing your order. After final testing of these barrels, we have discovered that accuracy specific to 90gr. Sierra Match King and the 90gr. Fusion hunting ammo is only mediocre. These results are not up to the JP standard, and as such, we cannot honor our accuracy guarantee with this 90gr. ammunition. However, the Federal varmint load using the 60gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip and our personal test loads using 77gr. Sierra Tipped Match Kings shot well from these barrels. With the 77gr. Tipped Match Kings, we achieved maximum velocities in the 3000 ft/s range. This compromise of utilizing lighter projectiles with much higher MV and slightly lower BC may actually result in higher hit probabilities within the effective range of the cartridge. This is particularly the case with unknown distance targets. At this point, we want to offer you the choice of confirming your order and receiving one of these first JP .224 Valkyrie barrels. Alternately, you may opt to wait for our next run of barrels with further design changes to improve the performance of the 90gr. bullets. The choice comes down to your choice of application and ammo. Please respond to this email with your preference. If you choose to wait, your order will still be fulfilled in the order it was received as soon as the new barrels arrive and are tested. If you choose to wait, we expect to ship your order sometime in May. Sincerely, JP Customer service team" View Quote |
