Shot ends on 1/20. I'm fine with it, at least it's a month delay vs the last estimate instead of a full quarter.
Thanks for the scoop magpul. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Maybe I'll get myself one or two of them after tax season. My birthday is April 18.

I've been waiting on the PRS for months now. Hopefully I'll get one before Christmas.

gotta be getting close! These gift cards are burnin' a hole in my pocket, and my F1 should be coming in any day now!
As of today, 11 JAN 17, the MAGPUL website page for the UBR GEN2 now says it is coming "Spring 2017" !
MAGPUL has really dropped the ball on this UBR GEN2. They're so busy emphasizing other products that the UBR GEN2 has been put on the back burner. Don't hold your breath for purchasing one of these anytime soon. |
Come on magpul! My sbr was just approved, now I'm waiting on a stock.
It's holding up one of my builds as well, but I have a feeling they are working out some kinks and it will help us in the long run to be patient.
I'm about to pull the trigger on an sl-k package deal to hold me until the ubr's a released.
Be nice to know if it's 10 days or 10 weeks. |
So any updates? Magpul mentioned we should stay tuned to SHOT show for some info in another thread. Anyone know anyone that has been to their booth?
Sorry, but I'm going to bump this until Magpul makes a post giving some kind of explanation, regardless of how flimsy it is. All my logistical reasons for this have taken a back seat to the fact that I keep getting updates for products that have more to do with the department store Target than one on the range. They should have created a "lifestyle" division. It's my fault I paid for these things way too early, but I hope that companies like Lancer, LMT, etc. will be rewarded for keeping there eyes on the prize. That is, of course, if the prize if a faithful following of shooters (of bullets with gunpowder)

Anyone think the gen 1 looks way better than the gen 2?
Was shoppping around and saw pics of the 2 and they're so boring looking to me. |

I like the strength of the Gen 1 (despite the weight). If the G2 keeps the G1's strength while being lighter and accommodating A5 components, it's a no brainer (assuming it becomes available before I die). |
This is why the delay sucks. C'mon Magpul, you're killing me over here. I seriously thought about just buying a gen 1 on clearance...But then I'm stuck with that $200 with of gift cards I bought specifically to order the UBR 2.

Reviewing the latest testing results and hoping to keep things moving. It's been a crazy ride with this product, but we're getting there. We appreciate everyone's patience.
After waiting since last April, I finally gave up, cancelled my pre-order, and bought something else. Too many missed deadlines with no real explanations.
Yes: it is most important to get it right, but this has gone way beyond reason. Besides, I got tired of running my precision rifle with a wobbly CTR stock. |
sometimes updates are posted / said elsewhere and we just don't get them here. Here's a post from SPQR over on m4carbinet.net from a couple of weeks ago that had a few more details...
Lots of parts, lots of molds, a tricky mechanism to get right, and difficulty last year in getting test shots and tweaks done to test revisions with press time being in high demand for existing products, plus logjams even in testing with some of the programs we had to get out. And we are picky. Certainly not what we wanted to do, but it will be right when we ship. Weight will be as advertised. Ship date was changed now that we're finishing up, and we could put an accurate date out. It's textured, it's doing what it's supposed to. One more round of testing to go. View Quote |

Put me down as another that's been waiting in this for months.
Quite disappointed in Magpul. I don't mind the delays, I do mind the repetitive changing of the ETA. Just throw out a "Coming December 2019!" That way, anything earlier is a surprise and a nice thing. And you don't have to keep pushing it back by seasons. |
I for one am disappointed with how Magpul has rolled this out. However Something may be happening soon. Some sites has the UBR as discontinued by manufacture. So maybe this means that THE UBR2 will be out soon. However I'm not holding my breath

I don't really think either gen is terribly "sexy" as a stock. I just want a really strong collapsing stock and the gen 2 can do that at a lighter weight AND for less money. That's more than good enough for me. This build has an m203 on it, no one will really be looking at the stock anyway.
Everything is on hold until it actually leaves the factory though. Spring is 24 days, 22 hours and 23 mins away. Please don't mess this up again Magpul! |
I like the looks, but I'm more interested in the A5 system w/ suppressed sbr.
Have an A5 H2 and a fancy spring. No stock. |
Any news or a more firm release date? How about a release month? Spring of 2017 encompasses April-June I believe in the calendar. I don't mind preordering if its April. I don't think I want to preorder if I'm looking at June before release and then possibly July/August before realistic shipment.
I had a preorder through DSG dated back to May 2016 that I had added a K2+ grip to the order. DSG must have given up as well because they emailed me about shipping the grip yesterday, and thats when I canceled the preorder. I will just find a gen1 on clearance somewhere and go with that or possibly a fixed stock from another company.
Why do companies announce a new item that hasn't even been developed? Between the MDR and this stock I just don't get it.... |
hasn't been developed? There's a functional prototype (at least it looks functional!) in this shot show 2016 video...
Magpul UBR Gen 2 Stock - SHOT Show 2016 I doubt testing takes that long, so one can only presume that some revisions have been made along the way. At some point I wish they'd stop fiddling and save any 'new' ideas for the Gen 3. Presuming it hasn't failed any strength tests, ship that thing already! |

well yeah, but a rifle and a stock are a little different when it comes to development time and testing...and it's desert tech. What baffles me about the ubr 2 situation is that Magpul has shown the ability to crank out new stocks like gangbusters in the past. Sure, each one takes it's own dev time and testing and everything and a lot of them are concurrent / separate projects, but just look at the sheer number of them. If all of them took as long as the UBR 2 has, they'd probably only have 4-5 stocks at this point instead of a dozen. I'm not a gun parts manufacturer, and I dunno what is up with the dev time on this product because I'm on the outside looking in. Obviously Magpul wants to sell/ship product, it's not like they are dragging their feet or anything. It's just taking forever...for whatever reason. My problem is that once I design a build, I don't like changing things unless something comes along that is better relative to the particular project. The UBR 2 is perfect for this build, so I can't just move on and getting a competing brand's product...and I can't buy the UBR 2 either, so I'm just stuck in build purgatory.
Also in build purgatory here, as well. Maybe it's just me, but I think a half finished lower is much more aggravating than a somewhat completed uppers. Not being able to have a rear takedown pin installed is killing me.
Hurry up, Magpul, you're our only hope! |

5 days, 18 hours until Spring 2017.... View Quote Yea but then Spring is 3 months long and then there's Summer after that. Magpul is in business to make $$ . If they were just making a few products this would have been on shelves already. They have so many new products being introduced/made now that they have less time to devote to each one. They should have waited till the UBR-2 was closer to release before announcing it. Or either they have just ran into some problems that have needed to be taken care of. Either way once it does get released it should be a great stock. I bet they do not like the fact that it was announced over a year ago and it is still not on shelves. That's a year of profits they have not been taking in |
If it had been released during the ass end of spring 2016, no one would have complained. A full year later ya don't get the 3 months of cushion provided by the length of the season. When it's "spring 2017", they should be available for order on the mail www site. If not, is late again.
"In" before that change on the www site to "summer 2017". |

Dragging it out a little at a time really doesn't sit well with me. They know many people are waiting to get one to complete builds, etc. and if they were honest and said it'll be over a year before it's released people would just buy something else. By pushing the release date out a little at a time they keep people onboard waiting for it. The whole thing just smells to me. I don't buy that a company that established have had so many delays without seeing it coming.

Bump....
Magpul - How about a reply (update) in either of the two threads about the UBR 2? |
The UBR 2 is a cryptid. We have photos of it but has anyone seen one in the wild? Does it really exist? [cue X-files theme]
This wouldn't be the first time we've seen vaporware from Magpul. At what point do we just call it what it is?
