Thank-you gentlemen for the thoughts.
But first a correction (pun intended [:D]) I wont start till April 1, lots of paper work to complete first and also April is the next training cycle.
Now a little background for those not familiar.
After spending 13 + years as a LEO on the outside, starting as a rookie and transgressing upwards as FTO, certified instructor, narcotics and Police Chief, I retired and for the last 9 yrs, entered the main work force and have been a weldshop forman at a local trailer mfg. Then the unforeseen happened and after a corporate change/buyout, a new CEO/owner, restructure, and due to the slump in the economy after 9/11, I being the most expensive employee to keep on payroll, was laid off. ( gentlemen, sometimes experience don't mean squat !) So I figured this was the perfect opportunity to reenter the LE field and after a long 4 1/2 mo of unemployment, I have been offered a position as detention officer in one of the fastest growing counties in north Texas if not the state.
This is a relatively new facility approx 5 yrs old and only half completed, with an estimated 900 bed capacity when finished. I took a complete tour on monday and let me say this puppy is high tech ! I've seen prisons that weren't this good. I'm looking forward to spending the next 20 yrs at this location and also partaking the the "OTHER" side of the LE field.
Again, thanks for your support .
