We were at a call the other night, about 2130, and were in the process of having the pt. mother (who we believe suffers from Munchousen Biproxy, but thats another story) sign a refusal when we here one of our engines go "onscene of a 962 (accident) rollover with one pt ejected laying in the middle of the rode not moving, put a helicopter on standby further report to follow. So we're thinking cool they are gettin some down south. The secondary report goes "we will be assuming Gilbert rd comman as we have 16 pt. all ejected from a pickup make this a second alarm medical and we will be initiating the START Triage system. Now were are like do you want us to take him to the hospital for sign the refusal with a little bit of urgency in our voices as we were the closest Ladder. She signed and we start hauling ass to the call. En route command came back with a Triage report of 1 dead, 4 immediates, and the rest were delayed. We get there extricate people from the scene to treatment and then get assigned a pt and take care of him. We ended up flying 7 people to trauma centers and grounded the rest. ALL of our Pts. were ILLEGALS fresh from the border and did not speak a word of English.

Turns out there have been coyote wars going on where they run each other off the road and steal their "cargo" for people trading. Well one coyote happened to be sitting on the side of the road when this Chevy long bed with 16 people in the back drove by and he decided to force him off the road and steal his cargo. Turns out he did a PIT manuever on the truck causing it to swerve off the road and then roll about 5 or 6 times launching everyone and crushing one dude. Pretty savage call.

Sucks. Cool call though. We had an F250 flip over and eject close to 10 migrant laborers a few years back.

Just remember, illegal or not, they're still people, and they need guys like y'all for good quality emergency medical care. I'm sure there's plenty of folks in the ghetto that you don't get paid to run them, either.

Besides, Medicaid's a bitch anyway!
