Officer Down in Norcross, Georgia...
Tonight on 06.23.2002. at approximately 2000 two Norcross City Police Officers responded to the Villager Lodge Extended Stay Motel in regards to a Signal 14 - Threats call.

Upon arrival they spoke with the manager on duty who stated that one of their former employees who had been terminated the previous day was causing trouble. He also lived there at the motel. Management asked the two officers to escort him to the suspects room to advise him that he was being evicted.

The suspect surprised the officers and opened fire on them striking Corporal Mark Gibbs one time in the head. The suspect then began to fire random shots at other bystanders where upon the second officer fired at the suspect. The suspect was hit several times in the torso and also in the head.

Last update on Corporal Gibbs is that he is now out of surgery and in the Critical Care Unit in the hospital.

Last update on the suspect is that he is also in the hospital still undergoing surgery.

We of the Norcross Police Department are asking for your prayers for Corporal Gibbs.

Darkhelmet, maybe I misread what you tried to say, but if you trying to get some attention towards this poor scumbag who shot a cop, find another post.  Have some respect for a police officer who has just been shot in the line of duty, protecting people he probably hasn't ever met.  So for someone to care about a piece of  S*(% like that suspect, he can kiss my ASS!

Don't worry, DH ain't down with the bad guys.  He's just saying he hopes the surgeon does a little MORE damage to the monkeyfuck.

For example:
Doctor--  "Oops, I think I accidently caused this guy to wear a colostomy bag for the rest of his life.  I HATE it when I do that..."

I used to live in Norcross. Kind of scary that that kind of stuff happens "close to home" as it is. Even scarier since I now wear a badge. My deepest sympathies to his fellow officers and to his family. Another fallen soldier to guard the gates of heaven.

Edited to say that I didn't notice that he was hospitalized and not down for good. My apologies for not being more sensitive and observant.
