SOLDAT - Reflections Of A German Soldier 1936-1949 by Siegfried Knappe

Knappe was a German artillery officer who served on the eastern front. He later served as a staff officer during the battle of Berlin, where he was captured by the Russians. A good deal of the book covers his time in captivity and the circumstances of his release and return to Germany. A well-written book and a good read.

Leakey's Luck.  The author is cousin to the famous archaeologist.  He serve in the RTR and rises to battalion CO.  While dismounted (First Siege of Tobruk) he volunteers to fight as an infantryman and is taught by the Australians how to conduct night time raids against the Germans.  He returns to the RTR after the siege is lifted and finishes the campaign in the Western Desert before fighting in Europe.
