ok, say a person goes to get their 07 FFL (manufacturer?) then Class 02 licence...i understand that by getting these things you have to give up some rights...(search etc...) BUT to what extent?  can the ATF only search your place of business whenever it wants?  or can they search you home as well?  what if you only keep said manufactured weapons at the place of business?  im a little confused

thanks

Basically, as a licensee, the ATF can "inspect" your licensed premises at just about any time during business hours.  If your licensed premises is your home, then they can inspect your home.  They can't search your home without a warrant if it's not your place of business, though.

Inspection outside of business hours or at other locations than your licensed premises require prior arrangements, or a warrant.

For 01 dealers, ATF generally can only conduct 1 'unscheduled' inspection per calendar year, other than in furtherance of a bona-fide criminal investigation.  I'm not sure if that extends to 07 manufacturers, though.

Adding an SOT to your license doesn't change the inspection rules - just ups the ante for you if something is missing.
