Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - short barrels, pistol calibers

Is it legal to have a postban AR-15 fitted with a pistol caliber conversion with a short barrel (below 16")?  I saw them at a gun show, it takes Sten mags, and the guy said it was legal because it was a pistol caliber.  The barrel was like 9-11".  Just want to make sure.

Not unless its a registered as a SBR or AOW or it was preban AR15 pistol converted to 9mm.
