I am turning 18 in about a month, and can't wait to get an AR. I am wondering if it would be legal for me to purchase a rifle and have it shipped to a local FFL. I know that I couldn't get the rifle from the FFL until I am 18, but could I purchase the rifle and get it shipped here? (btw the rifle is at a FFL in CA)

As long as the transfer to your possession doesn't take place until you're 18, it doesn't violate federal law to purchase it and have it sent to an in-state FFL. Some dealers may choose not to accept the transfer for you until you're 18 (or not ever), but that's up to them as their business policy. Some vendors also may not care to sell to you until you're actually 18 - but again as long as you don't take possession until you're of legal age, there's no law I know of prohibiting it.
