Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - How did FBI get into enforcement business?

The recent shooting of the innocent bank robbery "suspect" by an FBI agent has me wondering... This is a Bureau of INVESTIGATION, not a Bureau of ENFORCEMENT.  How, when, and why did they get into the enforcement business, especially since they seem to be so inept at it?

Same comments apply to the BATF, I believe.  Are they not a TAX COLLECTION agency?  How did they get into LAW ENFORCEMENT as well?

These people are a public safety threat.  Let's get them off the streets. [rolleyes]
