I wouldn't sweat prone unless you're gearing up for Camp Perry. Sitting position or bench rest should be just fine if you're using mil-surp ammo. The gun will shoot better than you can make it shoot so I would just try to get it centered & get consistent groups. My .o2

Use sandbags - either prone or bench - to fully supprot your weapon and then sight it in at 25m using a USGI 25m sighting target. Or you could simply sight it from 100yd off the bench. It's up to you. Generally AR's won't deviate too much from mechanical zero.

I've put a lot of thought into this and have decided to go with a 50/200 zero. Click here to get the details: http://communities.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/zeroingmethods.msnw This is the zero I use: http://communities.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/improvedbattlesightzero.msnw FWIW Col. Chuck Santose and others from this site are frequent contributors to AR15.com.

I went to watch the High Power match at Tri County Gun Club. Decent facilities. Worth checking out. http://www.tcgc.org/homepage.htm
