I have a few boxes of ammo to sell privately, either in EE or on gunbroker.com, and I was wondering if it might be a good idea to ask the buyer for proof of age and a signed statement that there are no laws to prevent him from purchasing ammo.
I don't particularly like being intrusive but in this day and age you never know. I thought it might be a good idea just to cover my ass. I'm not a dealer, but most if not all commercial ammo dealers require it for their records. Is this something I should be concerned about as a private seller?
I'd hate to unknowingly sell ammunition to a minor or a felon and something bad happen and it be traced back to me via computer emails or auction listings. FWIW, the ammo I'm going to put up for sale could be considered "politically incorrect" in some circles if that makes a difference, i.e. Black Talons, AP 30.06, steel core 7.62x39, etc.
(BTW, the recent talk about the .50 caliban has nothing to do with this because I've had this ammo for sale for awhile now)
