Went out to Warrenton today with a buddy.  There's an unsupervised range out there on parks land I wanted to check out.

Blasted away with my new USP Tact., I love this gun!

So, I got my preban Colt M4 setup and Benelli with a few handguns.

About 2 hour into the shoot, a Sheriff Dept. truck pulls up.  I lay off for a bit and watch the guys and kids shoot their deer rifles and shotguns.  Deputy gets out, and comes straight towards me...  Damn, well of course my stuff is 100% legal, but I'm ready for the 3rd degree.

"What do you have there???", I answer, "preban Colt setup with M4 uppper, etc..."  He says.  "nice that's like my Dept. issue gun."

So we chat for about 10 minutes about his dept. and personally owned ARs.  I offered to let him play around, but he didn't want to get in trouble for having fun on the job.

Later I'm packing up and another guy (who had been shooting next to me all day) comes over with his kids, I let them play around with my stuff for a bit.  

Score a couple for the 'black rifles' fans today!

Let's see, it must of been Sept 14, the Friday after the 11th, when I packed up my ARs and headed for the range to blast a couple of battle packs at my ad hoc Osama targets.  When I arrived what did I find?  The parking lot was [i]packed[/i] with Sheriff's vehicles!

I could see them there with their department's M16A1s and A2s, sighting them in and in general doing the same thing I wanted to do [:)].  One lane was still open so I backed up to it and proceeded to unload.  

Before you know it I have a group of sheriffs around me eagerly checking stuff out, wanting to get a mag out my M4gery with Comp M and RAS/pistolgrip and my 20" Bushy with Elcan.  Of course fair was fair and I got a few rounds of fun from their rifles as well [uzi]!  Made some good AR info as far as good local smiths and the like.  They definately made my day and helped break my Sept 11th Blues!

I grew up in Warren Co.  Most of the Police and Deputies are pretty easy going.  They should be nice considering how much beer they confiscated from me in High School.

Out here we just got shall issue CCW.
The local cops in the township are class one jerks, all they have to do it look for the trash from the city coming out, but they can only handle that sometimes. They enjoy pulling moms over for driving 5 over and other important tasks.
(I was an MP, I work against cops from several cities as a lawyer in union arbs, these boys are just rude jerks)
Anyhow, the union announces that any CCW holder pulled over will be cuffed, searched, put in the back of the cop car, and their car tossed.
I started carrying 24/7 in the car after that...but anyway, one of the union members call the state civil rights office to complain about the sexually demeaning workplace (guy, too). Turns out the local cops like computer porn. A lot. And they don't even clean out their history, much less cover their tracks. Guess they have something else to worry about besides CCW now.

Seriously, I am 100% pro-LEO, but I am sadly aware that some peace officers do not look too kindly on civilian ownership of nasty black guns.  I just hope that those fellas are a small minority as this case supports.

Just goes to show that everytime you go to the range with your 'assault' rifles, you are an 'ambassador' to the rest of the gun world.  So remember to treat everyone with respect and don't forget to share!

I don't think any civilian should own the black rifle....so, send them all to me [:D]

Actually, I think more people should own them.  I don't know how many people I have let shoot one of mine and had them fall in love with it.  Only to be asked...how do I get one?

Of course that could just be because I was
profiled and pulled over yesterday for no
reason other than harrasment.
Me- "Did I do something wrong,sir?"
LE- "Does'nt matter,liciense and reg."
ME- "Here's my reg.,my licience is at home."
LE- "That's a $100 dollar fine,right there."
LE "What are you doing out this late?"
Me "nothing"
LE-"where you headed?"
Me- "home"
Le- "You been drinking son?"
Me- "Do I look,act,or smell drunk,officer?"
LE- "HAVE YOU BEEN DRINKING!?!"
Me- "No,I don't drink"
LE- "I am also giving you a $90 fine for going off
the right side of the road when I lit you up."
Me-  "I was trying to pull off,there was a ditch,
sir,so I moved back over till I cleared the ditch."
LE-  "Well that was dangerous to other drivers."
Me- "Sir It  is 2AM,and I was fine until you lit
me up."
Me- "Sir is there a reason you pulled me over to
begin with?"
LE- {ignoring my ?}Well I am giving you a $190 fine
what do you think about that?"
Me- "I think that you will give me what you see fit.......Cur."
{after staring me down for about 5 seconds}
LE-  "get out of here,your free to go."

the bed and cab while yelling at me.
In case I was'nt clear,I received no ticket.

Good thing I did'nt have "my" '69 mach 1 out.
I was tempted as warm as it was.I figure I would
of got it then,a kid under 21 in a muscle car
at 2A.M. is a instant "criminal" you know.

We know you're not all *****.  The problem is, that the good LEO's hardly ever receive any recognition - their work goes unnoticed for the most part.  The bad ones - they make the news headlines and are always topics of much discussion on boards like this one.....

It's a shame.  We should all make a serious effort to post our dealings with LEO's when they act professional & respectful, as they should.  At least give the good ones some recognition.....
