Oh yea that would be the movie of all movies. He's my hero. Definitly Spielberg, as for who should play him? when I think of Sargents the drill sargent in all the hard core war classics comes to mind. cant remember his name but I'm sure you guys know who I mean. always yelling. hell he may even be dead now, but a great drill Sgt. kinda looks like him. man, Hathcock's are tough boots to fill.

R Lee Ermey but thirty years younger.  No offense to R Lee but the actor needs to look like he is in his twenties.  I do not think Spielberg could do it without interjecting some socialist propaganda on the Vietnam war.  Clint Eastwood should direct the movie.

The guy who played lead in Slingblade.  He's got the mannerisms and dialect down natural.  Incredible range.  He acted and directed if memory serves.  Supposed to be a fanatic about accuracy if what I've read is true.

Arock out.

Arock,

The Slingblade guy is Billy Bob Thornton.

I've noticed people recommending some anti-gun actors.  I vote for a gun owner: Mel Gibson.  There has been debate on the gunboards about Mel's RKBA views (we don't know for certain), but I would cast Mel.

How about Tim Abell from the old Soldier of Fortune TV show. He's an ex-Ranger and looks the part. Has anyone else read Silent Warrior? Its a follow up book to 93 confirmed kills. Actually it reads more like stuff that was cut from the first book. It does go into a little more detail about him after he leaves the Marines. Not a bad read all in all.

TStick, dunno about BB Thornton's 2A views but I don't have any problems with Gibson.  Reading books and articles about Hathcock, its been obvious there's a movie going to be made.  Thinking about who could do him justice, I've liked Thornton for awhile.  Thornton just seems to fit the role easily.

Arock.

What about the sniper guy in Saving Private Ryan? He has the build and seems to be a good ole boy. Deniro Blows! He is a Clinton supporter and a DEMOCOMMIE. Piss on Hollywood! A new form of film making needs to be started somewhere in a conservative part of the country. More truth needs to be broadcasted while watching movies. The girl sniper from Enemy at the Gate was on Leno and she said prior to the role , she had never held a firearm before.

Needs to be a younger guy than Thornton. He is 50 or so. It would be hard to make him look young. Hell , I say do not make a movie! All it will do is make way for more gun laws and higher gun prices , when the wanna be's go out and buy up everything. There will be sniper wars on the streets of every major city once you get the idea in the Thug's minds. Let's keep the firearms knowledge as secret as possible.

"Silent Warrior" is stuff taken out of "93 Confirmed Kills..", so stated in the preface. This was done for marketing purposes. The publishers never thought the book would sell like it did. This was a blessing in disguise, as it allows us to learn about GSGT. Hathcock in the years following the first book, up until his death. If you like the first book, you'll like the second.

Mel Gibson is not exactly one of us. Somewhere around here I have  the Playboy interview of him. His take on the RTKBA is (paraphrased)" yea, I guess so, we should be able to own them. The crooks will always be able to get them. So we should too."..."yea, I own a gun...but I don't keep it at home..(because of the kids)"

I don't call that kind of attitude as being 'One of Us.'

Tommy Lee Jones - the aged Hathcock reminiscing over earlier years.  He has hunting experience...with AlWhore.  His face has the leathered Hathcock face.

I was thinking of Willem Dafoe.  He played an excellent "Mr. Clark" in "Clear and Present Danger".  I don't know about his politics but he has the gaunt features and "man of few words" kind of personality that would be good for playing Hathcock.  Of course, if Billy Bob is too old, then Dafoe probably is too.

Flag Waver-  I think the sniper from "Saving Private Ryan" is Barry Pepper.  Boy, you hit that one right on the head!  I thought some of the other suggestions were good till you mentioned him.  He would probably be excellent.  He was also in "The Green Mile" (the only Stephen King movie that I could bear to watch all the way through).

We should probably give the girl from "Enemy at the Gates" a break.  After all, she is from England so where would she learn to shoot?  Considering how "civilized" and "enlightened" they are over there.  If only the Patriots had been nice enough let King George have his way, then we could be just like them.  Of course, if we had a king, then Bill Clinton would have been just another lawyer....
