(Yeah I lied but prove it ! [:D])

Caught a little of this on FOX news.

NRA spokesman Wayne Lapiere(sp?) was being interviewed about the "Campaign Finance Bill."

Now what could be very controversial ??  Well seems buried in the details of the bill there's a portion that forbids anyone other than "THE MEDIA" from doing much commenting 30-days before a primary and 60 days before a general election !!!!

Specifically no company or group - The NRA - The Sierra Club, etc., can purchase advertising (presumably advertising concerning the election/candidates/issues) 30 days before a primary or 60 days before a general election.

That leaves the field clear for our good friends ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, The New York Times, the Washington Post etc. to have a field day with their opinions with no chance of rebutal from groups opposing.

(I stand to be corrected on any and all details.)

Congress shall make no law;abridging the freedom of speech,or of the press
(excerpt from Amendment 1 )

This is such an obvious violation of our RIGHTS that it makes me sick ...even sheep should be able to see this .

Is there someone who's suppossed to be in charge of protecting our RIGHTS ???

The main and central purpose of the 'freedom of speech' found in the First Amendment was to protect political speech!

Even commercial free speech is protected, according to the US Supreme Court, and I have no doubt that great portions of the Campaign Finance Bill that McCain et al are in the process of ramming through Congress will be held to be an unconstitutional abridgement of political free speech.

What's left after the Supreme Court guts it will still be a problem for our side!

BTW, a lot of liberal groups oppose this plan as well! You know, the ones who don't think that the media is that liberal!

And Limbaugh has pretty much been carrying everbody's water on this one! Alone!

What are you waiting for? You think that Tom, Peter, and Dan are going to admit to this?

It makes them even more powerful than they already are!

You are correct, sir.

It is no secret that the USA popular media is disgracefully biased towards the socialist left.
The popular media loves this bill.

Wealthy candidates would be still be allowed to spend their own cash, as far as I can ascertain, knowing little response would be possible. Mc Cain has a Budweiser dealership/monopoly in Phoenix and last I read it was worth $300 million. Kennedy has an even greater net worth. New Clinton type book deals will/can be made to finance Democrat-criminals.

Like gun control, it would be a slippery slope that would soon stop any political speech even on internet forums during this "critical, sensitive period when (wealthy) candidates have a right not to be interfered with" (where's Imbroglio when you need him?).

As for this Supreme Court stopping or gutting anything passed by Congress, it is doubtful. Four Supremes are left wing radicals who believe that the Constitution is not as important as what polls indicate the USA unwashed masses will tolerate. Consider that the 2nd could not be written in stronger language and the courts choose to ignore that.

If any type or form of that bill EVER passes we will have only corrupt multi-multi-millionaires in Congress and corruption to gain funds to defend ones seat will be accepted.

I heard about this last year. The NRA mag "First Freedom" had the story back in Aug or Sept.
From what I understand, that is part of the reason the some Arizonians where trying to get that democrat in republican clothing recalled.
By the way, how is that going?

Big Bear, love the new GIF you have!!

Eric, as I don't follow Rush there was no first source.
My response to "raf" was-tongue-in-cheek.  Fox was my first and only source.

Regardless this deal stinks !

campaign finance reform is an idiotic idea--as soon as the rules change, the monied interests will find a workaround.  The only way we can get back control of our government is to shut off the tax revenues.
