Mom dropped by for a couple of weeks and was gungho about this here invention called the CD REWRITABLE.  Have so have burned over 15 CD's for her and she's going international now.

Here's the question:  will the Xray scanners and security measures wipe out/ruin CD's?

What can she do if this was the case?

Im sure that i can be of some help to you,I worked as an airport screener for about two years at the Baltimore/Washington airport and worked on almost all of the different types of x-ray machines that are out there. I can assure you that any of the new and old machines will NOT harm any cd's,film, cameras, laptops or small farm animals(just kidding on the ladder). So I hope i have been some help and i must say that with all the new high security they are stressing now in the airports,it doesnt do any good, people can still sneak things aboard just as easy as it was before 9-11
take care

The CDs are basically a series of holes or pits in the plastic CD.  Unless the X-rays are powerful enough to melt the CD (no way) there's no way it will affect a CD.

no damage will come to any of your items that are run thru the x-ray machines at the security checkpoints.  There have been loser parents who in such a hurry (or stupidity?) put their newborn (in carrier) thru a machine! Child was not harmed, just freaked out the operator!  [shock]  and putting drinks thru the machine is another 'no-no'.

However... There is one machine (CTX is the name)that is getting lots of use, it is large x-ray machine which uses 2 different types of x-ray methods. first is conventional, the other uses a rotary gantry which is simillar in operation to a CAT scan.  This machine is typicaly used to inspect your checked luggage for drugs, explosives and weapons. MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE YOUR FILM!!!  you should be warned by customer service of this fact.  If you are selected for this sceening you will know.

And that device where they use a "wand" on your bags... detects explosives and/or drugs:

No CD's wont be hurt by X-Rays.

What about the magnetic metal detectors and electromagnetic tape.
