The United States Marine Corps is made up of MARINES not soldiers. Soldiers are in the US Army, at least as that term is applied to US forces.

No disrespect or offense taken, at least on my part. The whole interservice rivalry deal is, in my experience, very good natured and is more along the lines of brothers picking on each other because they can than any kind of real animosity.
