X-box...the PS-2 is a generation back...I gave my son-in-law an X-box for Christmas, the rest of the family is pissed at him. He's having so much fun playing "Halo" he hasn't opened up the other games.
I'm impressed. |

People have already linked up there PCs to their X Boxes to go online to play games. There are alot of bugs (mostly the online games won't support more than 2 players, but MS is very optimistic aboutreleasing their modem addon in a few months.(maybe)

I've got both and up on things... I don't want to start a religious debate on which is better by opinion...
The XBOX has slightly better hardware than the other systems. It also has a VERY large support for games, larger than the PSX and Nintendo because it's basically the same code for a PC game so there's not a ton of effort to "port" the code for the console. It comes with a HD and NIC so yer ready to jack into online play (now through a user created proggy (kewl as hell, but has bugs!) and in a month or two when MS releases the online gaming service). It also comes with 4 player jacks so you dont need to buy a multitap like with the PS2. (Anyone want my multitap??? heehee) It's also a NEW system, so keep in mind that there are a TON of games for the PS2 and few for the XBOX. This obviously will change as many game companies release titles throughout the year. A few companies will be XBOX only and a few will be PS2 only for a few months because of contract breaks and side deals. (Also MS owns a third of the gaming companies out there!) The only game I like on the PS2 is GT3 while some new games are just out on the PS2 and coming soon to the XBOX which are kick ass! (Keep in mind I haven't bought any new ps2 games since I got my XBOX!) In the end both systems will have 90% of the same games, both will look sharp and both will have the available extras. The XBOX is slightly ahead in technology, but comes with a few hundred bucks worth of equipment. The PS2 needs a NIC and HD to be on the same level of comparison and I would imagine that will cost another $100-$200. So the question is can a few great games tide you over for a few months until more come out, or do you want to have a huge library of games to choose from RIGHT NOW. I love my XBOX and like the larger controllers (fit hands much better... although the top 2 buttons are annoying to get to and I will buy diff configured pads when I see them!) I've always been a SONY fan, but online gaming is where it's at... so the XBOX gives me that ability now as well as keeping my NHL, NBA, and NFL rosters and shit current in my games!!! (You'll be able to connect to MS online crap and keep things up to date! That's all available now for the pc versions of the games and really kicks ass for sports nuts like me!) |

I have an Xbox, got it about 2 days after they were released. I only have 3 games for it but they are so good I am in no hurry. Amped, Gotham Racing, and Halo. Multiplayer in Halo is incredible. My best friend has a P2 and although it is a great machine, he is jealous. If Xbox can come out with GT3 or GT4, I will be very happy. (GT=Gran Turismo) Patsue |

I've played a lot of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Grand Theft Auto. Both are freaking amazingly good games.

Why give Bill Gates any more of your money? The Jacka$$ has a monopoly on the computer business and are be loved government is not doing anything about it.
The PS2 has been around for about a year a friend of mine said they have the planes to come out with the PS3 in a year or so(Don't know if thats true or not.) I have heard some good things about the X-box and PS2 but I much rather place $300 more in an upgrade in my computer then get earthier one of them. The computer graphs will always blow away the X-Box and PS2. Just my $0.02 |

Xbox all the way. I have both the Xbox and the PS2. Yes the PS2 has more games out now. Some are great, some are complete crap. Being that the Xbox is still very new it has some great titles so far. Give it more time and it will prove itself as THE system to beat. With upcoming broadband gaming, onboard hard drive and ethernet adapter you cant go wrong for $299.
The PS2 is STILL $299 and they are suppose to come out with a hard drive add on and network adapter. That is, at an extra charge of course. So the choice is simple. |

I have seen the X-box trust me it does not compare Exactly what is it you think have and is so much better huh? Because the Xbox has a Geforce3 and that's the hottest thing out for the PC currently... Best you can do is match it. The Xbox doesn't have a slow ass AGP port to try to stuff info over either, it's a great setup... |

My kids have both. The X-box has better graphics, yet the games were rushed to get them ready for the for the market. The other draw back to the X-Box is that in order to play DVD's you have to spend more money and an buy an "add on piece".
P.S. I am Halo GOD!!! Took me three days of playing only a few hours a day to complete the game. If you have played "Half-life", the game is a snap. Half of the monsters are the same in the two games, and once you get past the hallways after the jungle, all you do is back track. |

Xbox. I bought the Xbox on release day and although it is sort of collecting dust while I await the new games it was a good investment. I have always been a PC gamer and probably will still be (mouse/keyboard will always outpeform a gamepad in 1st person shooters) but the potential for some amazing gaming on that system is there. I run my Xbox using component video to my 43" Widescreen HDTV, plus use the optical connection for true Digital audio. Halo is an aewsome game, my brother and I finished it the first few days playing it in cooperative mode. Once the developers take adavantage of the higher HDTV resolutions and invoke the Anti-Aliasing on the newer games PS2 will show its older technology. DOA3 and Halo are the flagship games for the Xbox. Oh yeah, and I think after the 1st week gamespy released a tunnel to play Xbox games over the net for free. I was rocking the Halo online and had a blast. Try that with ps2. Games my brother and I have in no particular oder:
Halo DO3 Gotham racing 4x4 Evo Artic Thunder Bloodwake Oddworld Kabuki Warriors Max Payne EA's football (forget which one) The new NBA (forget name) SSX Tricky Amped Eagerly awaiting UFC and Bruce Lee.... |

Thanks for the input, guys! I went last night and got me the XBOX...Shit, it really cooler than shit!
I bought Gotham Racing and Star Wars Starfighter... the second game is not really what I expected, but hey, who said life is? And like goatboy says, I can wait for the games to come out. Reading the specs and the likes, I can also inferr that this console might probably be upgraded later on. I bet that as soon as some other newer generation console comes out, this Microsoft stuff WILL require the use of the dedicated modem coming out to hook up to some site and upgrade the unit...Talk about wanting to make money, huh??? DUDE!!!
Halo is a MUST and playing online and with others is fun as SHIT!!! Lemme tell ya, multiplayer with the jeep just rocks... and those hover bikes are wicked fun, especially running people down!!! Oh and the tank battles are fun as hell too in small groups!!! HALO = ESSENTIAL!!! (Great to try with the online gaming hack thats out... tons of people out there playing!) After that sports games rock (madden!) and SSX TRICKY and AMPED are amazing!!! (Amped = realistic style snowboarding, SSX = arcade style and my pref... very crazy and fun to play!) Also, to those of you guys with an XBOX, BUY BLOODWAKE!!! OMFG it has to be the best game I have played in a while! And its insane in multiplayer as well!!! The water physics are insane!!! (Boat game from hell, HELL!!!) I probably forgot something like Silent Hill2 and who knows what else... I would pickup HALO and BLOODWAKE and a snow boarding game... just awesome stuff! |

Maybe I'm wierd, but I'll stick with the PC.
Currently, the only advantage the X-Box has over the PC is with it's chipset (system board and on the video adapter), as can be readily seen in the graphics. It may also have a slight advantage in the design of the player's controller. However, there are works in progress for the PC that will even dwarf the advantages of the X-Box chipset. It seems that every damn company is trying to find some way to up the performance of a PC. They are either creating new memory designs, CPU designs, and bus transfer technology. By the time I decide to upgrade my current PC (probably within this year), I will have the ability to choose hardware that outperform the X-Box. In order for the X-Box to be a contender, it will always need to be redevoloped just like the PC. However, I can do very little more than play games on the X-Box, whereas I can do a bunch more things with a PC. I couldn't see myself always having to upgrade my "gaming" system. However, I can see the advantages of upgrading my PC. |

i'd go with the good old PC. one can always upgrade it. graphic/game play second to none. i just ugraded to a Geforce 3 ti200, athlon 1.4 with 256 of DDR. it rocks!!! BTW has anyone tried Medal of Honor, Allied Assault? dam fun game [:D]

There's no question that a PC is the ULTIMATE gaming platform... for one!!!
But when I have company over, it's console time. When it's time for sports games, it's console time. (Yeah I play them sometimes on my PC but console is much easier, especially with online play and updates with the XBOX!) I keep my gaming pc up to date and my frame rates are always above 60+ with high resolution. I'm the idiot spending the $500+ on a new video card and upgrade CPUs once or twice a year. PC = MONEY HOG. For $300 I can get a console, or a new video card for my PC. I haven't checked, but doesn't the XBOX not use the GForce3, but NVIDIAs Quadro chipset??? I am pretty sure that's why the XBOX was so hyped. The Quadro is a POWERHOUSE GPU and NVIDIA cut MS a deal to be the exclusive chip supplier for the XBOX and its future versions. From the original specs, the XBOX is capable of something like 4x the graphic capabilities of the PS2... Anyow, PC is great because its useful for so many things, but I like to sit myself down on my couch, crank up the XBOX on the big screen, and play with 3 friends... |
