Yes, but they are not the best pistols out there.

Buy a Glock 23, much better than a S&W.

I have to agree. I would, but other stuff keeps coming up, which pisses me off to no end!

I have a 4006. They are good, quality guns. Looking at the innards it's apparent they are well made. And they look nice and feel substantial in your hand. Never jammed, but it did stove pipe once, but I was limp wristing towards the end of the shooting session. If you can get a good deal on a used one, I would go for it. I don't think I would buy a new one just because I'm not sure S&W has their head out of their ass yet.

I own a SW40F (Sigma).  Apparently one of the very few that were made right.  In my opinion, it is very well made pistol.  (Junk doesn't remain in my gun safe for 8 years.)

Alot of people won't agree with me on this one though.  Many have had very bad experiences with this particular model of S&W pistol.

I have 2 of the 5900 series and the 4006 is a direct take off of this ( The mags from the 9mm will work in the 40 cal ). Anyway I love both of mine . I even had a 4006 for a while it felt good . The only reason I sold it was to consolidate on 9mm .

Irrelevant, as S&W has not renounced the "agreement".

I've had a Model 669 9mm for about 17 years and it has been a good gun.
About 9 years back the frame cracked, no doubt due to a lot of reloads that were maybe a bit too hot.
I sent it in to S&W, they swapped out that frame for a new series 6906 frame, put a new rear sight on it, all new springs in the entire gun and a new decocking lever as well.
They then test fired it and sighted it in.
Total cost:$0.00
That's right, no charge and when I purchased it at the time it had a one year warranty.
I was very impressed with the company's service and standing behind their product.
I know they made a deal with Slick Willy's DOJ and I don't like it any more than the next guy, but they have been good to me in my dealings with them.

I carry a Smith every night at work too.Only because I have to. I hate S&W autos!! I had a 4006 when they first came out they are ok but there is a helluva lot better out there! I would not on a S&W auto if you gave it to me.

Well I like my SW99 in 40Cal , its been a good gun and even better yet I got it BEFORE the great S&W sellout , and like everyone else I'm waiting for some official word from Saf-T-Hammer on THEIR position on the agreement with Slick Willie's injustice department .
