getting a ruger 10/22 tomorrow and was wanting to get at least one or two hicap mags.  Thing is I don't know a thing about the value and name brands.  I have seen eagle and butler creeks for 65 to 100 dollars but I do not know if these are the only name branes or if I am getting burnt on the $$$.  Also, is there any mags out there like the usa ar15 mags that I do not need to deal with at all.

thanks for the help
Iso

The B.C. mags are excellent and I personally like the single stack 25rd. Ramline mags, they have not failed me.  As far the Ramline 30rd. & 50rd. double stack mags are concerned they were problematic in function as well as being more prone to splitting.

As far as price is concerned, keep your eyes open over at the Equip. Exchange they occasionally pop up F/S and I've seen several in the $45 & up range.  The 50rd. Ramline mags or the Steel Lip B.C. are the ones that are generally in $100 range.

IF you do pick up a Ramline double stack mag try using the military grade OD green 'duct' tape (fix anything tape more like) and wrapping a piece around it just below the magwell, doing so will relieve the pressure and risk of splitting.

I have both. I like them both, but the Eagles are a little better. The BC mags hold 25, eagle 30. The Eagle mags do not require an extended mag release because they have a sliding tab that is part of the mag that releases them. The BC steel lip mags look interesting. Never had a jam with either mag in about 10,000 rounds through the rifle on 3 mags. Paid $15.00 for the BC mags, and $25.00 for the Eagle.

The mag release is a must.
Also the trigger is "ok".
I want to find a better trigger for mine.  Less than $50.
Also going to get a bulter creek stock and bull barrel too.

I just bought a BC 25 rd off Gunbroker.com for $44. shipped... You don't have to spend $100.

I prefer the Eagle 30 rounders.  I now have 4, and no problems yet.  There is a guy around here who always seems to have one of these at every local show for $65 new in wrapper.

I would stay away from the ramlines as well.
