I listened to country until country turned into more disco than anything, that and I turned 16 about the same time. You couldn't cruise the blvd's with George blaring from the speakers.
So I went to heavy metal. Now I can listen to about anything.
All time favorites are too many to mention, but Waylon Jennings, David Allen Coe, and Marty Robbins would be right up there with Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Pink Floyd.

Anyone ever listen to Funk?

There's an incredible band out of New Orleans that's been around for years called "The Meters". They are with out question one of the best bands ever.

I'm not talkin' about P-Funk style funk music, or Parlament, it's more classic, rootsy funk, sort of like James Browns funkiest stuff.

If that's your mood, then The Meters are THE band.

This band from Oakland is THE band for Soul/Funk.
35 years.  Still touring the world.  Best horn section in the Business.
James Brown IS the Godfather of Soul for sure, heavily influencing the "horn bands".
I'll check out The Meters, though.  Always looking for the "funk".
Thanks for the tip.

M4,

Cro Mags!
Get outa here!!
I saw those guys 15+yrs ago at the Palladium or was it CBGB, I think they played the same night as B.A.D.
So long ago, are they still around?
Damn, Next you'll Resurrect BLACK FLAG.

Are you kidding? I've saw the Cro Mags & Motorhead at the Ritz Theater in N.Y.C. many moons ago. Sick show.

Black Flag? Seen'em live twice, again long ago. Plus Henry Rollins spoken word shows(better than you would guess it would be, much better.) And the last time I saw Hank, it was The Rollins Band in a tiny theater and believe it or not, they RIPPED!! Never thought their studio stuff was all that great, but live....good god, Henry gives 1000% and sounded INCREDIBLE!

Yes, Ritz not Palladium, What the hell was I thinking.

Anything but New-Hat Country & Pop music.

It was difficult for me to choose which category of music I listen to as I enjoy a range of musical styles. I like anything from older rock like Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Pink Floyd and Ted Nugent to heavy metal like older Metallica, Megadeth and White Zombie to alternative such as Tool and The Offspring to some pop music like Mariah Carey and even listen to blues and country from time to time.
But to pick just one category, I'll just say Rock n Roll.

I listen to insanely faster than f$*! black/death/speed/thrash/heavy metal. Also certain classic rock/industrial/noise/and classical (lots of classical actually).

I despise pop music as much as I do anti-gunners....

Then I would assume your are a Strapping Young Lad fan then? I think they pretty much own that category!

I listen to just about anything except for the tennie-bopper, top 40 junk and rap.  Country, classic rock, metal, blues, jazz, alternative, sometines even classical.  Just depends on what mood I'm in as to what I listen to.

I haven't heard 'em aside from 1 track on a comp. But the comp was so bad overall I "lost track of it". I should check them out. I know ex-Dark Angel drummer Gene Hoglan did at least one lp with them.
