My other brother turned up with an AR15 A2, and a good beginner's pistol, a .22 revolver.

Armed with these, plus an SKS, .22 rifle and .410, we took Sis-in-law shooting.  She received good coaching and put it to good use.  With the .22 revolver (a Single Six), she was drilling gallon and 2 liter plastic water bottles at 25 and 50 yards. Excellent.

She then progressed to the AR15.  She looked pretty doubtful about shooting it: too noisy, too intimidating, etc.  But we assured her that it was a pleasant shooting weapon, and she would like it.  She did.  Pronounced it "neat."

She balked at shooting my SKS, though.  I don't blame her at all.  Having shot the A2, I too balk at shooting my SKS!

Remember how I said she *wasn't* a Rambo?  Well, ummmm.... she has her foot in the door.  Hope to take her shooting again, next time she is in town.

Take a non-shooter to the range.
Do it "for the children."

I say take a trip with her to Front Sight for one of their free subgun classes in 2002.
