I may be wrong, but I think .max files are designed to be read by 3D Studio Max, a 3-D rendering program. Try asking the person who sent it to you, they may have to render a version of it in .jpg format for you to view.

I have been trying to ask the person who sent it for 20 minutes what she was doing. Lets just say she is VERY blonde, and being a female doesn't help either.
