Are Century Arms FALs with IMBEL receivers any good?  How much would you guys pay for one???

Thanks

IMBEL-made FAL receivers are highly regarded. Whether or not the angry beavers at Century can assemble one correctly is an entirely different matter. You shouldn't pay more than $500 out the door.

I've got one with the thumbhole stock. It shoots great but is nothing to look at. John

I've got an stg-58 with imbel reciever that Century put together. After 1500 rounds it still runs like a top. Everything looked like new except the lower reciever. For $450 it's one of the best deals going. Stock up on mags if you get one, DSA has them for $5 a piece.

Love it! This is my main battle rifle. If the house was on fire I'll grab my AR. If I'm being invaded I'll grab my L1A1.

I have heard some say that CIA are not to be trusted, but I have fired Deadeye47's L1A1 and it is very nice. Especially for $427 it is a lot better than I expected. Without adjusting the site (aka using kentucky windage) I was able to walk a gallon milk jug across the berm at 100 yards. Now that he has a nice scope on it I am dying to help him sight it in and see what it can really do. Also the cuncusion from the blast is pretty loud and powerful but i was very happily surprised with how little it kicked. I do not know if it is just the design of it or the muzzle break but it is very nice and I am considering buying one very soon myself.

Be careful! FALs (especially the economy ones) are like potato chips: you can't have just one.

What type of accuracy can one expect with a scoped FAl and quality ammo? I do handload as well, and can work up appropriate loads, but want to know if I should even try. I am building my first one & wonder just how far I should go in buying accuracy parts.
