My son is writing a persuasive speech on gun control.  We need to persuade the students to agree on a specific gun control topic.

We need:
a) specific gun control topic
b) a list of agruments for the gun control topic
c) a short story to convince why people should have guns in regards to the topic: example...one person got people to sign the donor side of their drivers license after a speech on her son's death by a drunk driver.
d) need an action for people to take a measure of positive reaction towards our arguement: example...pamflet, petition, email address towards their senator, etc.

This can be a national topic or regional...we are in Illinois.  Can we all pick one topic and focus on that.  Thanks in foward for your responses.

How about correlation between concealed carry laws and drop in crime.  NRA, Lott, and Kleck websites provide a wealth of data.

MOST IMPORTANT PARTS

Mythos- History, example Jefferson thought we should have guns. Back this up with a quote. This part is the history of Americans having guns

Logos- Logic. Like the lott book more guns less crime. Show how guns reduce crime. Back that up with sited stats

Pathos- Used to evoke emotions. Use a story of a girl who had been raped and how she used a gun to defend herself. Or how she was raped and wished she had a gun.

Ethos- Ethics of the speaker. That is you as a credible source of info. Attempt not to be slanted in one direction just somebody displaying the facts.

A.) Media Twisting the truth to suit their agenda, which is anti-gun?
B.) No matter how you feel about gun control, having the media twist and distort the truth, publish such lies from other groups without investigation is undermining the American way of life.
C.) Don't quite understand the statement.
D.) Everything you listed here is valid.

For school-ages, I'm guessing that a fairly singular theme out to be presented, then each additional point pointing back to that main theme.

One example for states to recognized each others CCW's or even for laws that would allow for carry in Illinois:
- would it be agreeable that having trained and armed police officers and armed members of the National Guard would be a safety measure where ever they may be deployed (such as at the airport, in a courtroom, protecting the President, Governor, etc.)
- would it be agreeable that having civilians who have gone through the same background checks as LEO's and NG's and have training equal to or exceeding the LEO's or NG's also be a safety measure where ever they may reside?

The singular point could be anything (item A as you put it above).
